This ripper is a reference to a movie called The Island.
Basic plot summary:
Clones of everyday people are kept in a base and are fed, given jobs, play games/sports etc. They're supposed to live a good life for a chance to go to "the island". A paradise where clones are sent free. The reality is the clones have their organs and the like harvested when they're needed from the real versions out there in the world.

While there are no clones in the game, this reminds me of the movie so much
