Skoda Karoq 1.0 TSI (ENG) - Test Drive and Review

preview_player
Показать описание
Skoda Karoq is a compact crossover, smaller than Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq. If at a certain angle Skoda Karoq looks familiar, it’s probably because it’s similar in places to Tiguan Mk1. It also has similar dimensions. Skoda Karoq has similar dimensions to just about everything from Dacia Duster to Volvo XC40. And here comes the kicker! In some markets it’s actually quite expensive. So why choose it over a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross or a Toyota C-HR?

Starting price: 26 000 euro
As tested: ~32 000 euro

Before ordeing on of these I checked online reviews which have mostly been positive and then I come across this one. Some valid points, others re: sunvisors etc - that criticism could be directed at almost every car on sale. I hadn't noticed the seatbelt clip holder when I first saw the car so checked them out afterwards. What does he mean by "interesting, but doesn't really work". If you push the metal clip upwards and then it's held really tight and won't move. Perhaps a case of the reviewer not know what to do?

Smart phone with plug stuck in to USB socket - cubby won't shut. Not sure why you'd want to then close the cubby but if you did then buy an L-shaped USB connector.

Bottles get in way of gearstick? They call them CUP holders as they're designed to hold CUPS. The BOTTLE holders are in the doors. Surprised reviewer hasn't complained those bottle holders are too large for his coffee cup. Talk about looking for problems where problems don't exist !

1.0L too small to give you street cred? If you're the type who wants street cred in front of your mates, then don't turn up in a Karoq. 1.0L engine perfect for city use.

Stalling quite common with small turbo engines? No, it's the person behind the wheel who can't drive. If you're one of them then buy a Karoq / Ateca / Tiguan because they have an anti-stall device. You really have to be determined to stall one of these things.

You have to lean heavily the other way in corners to turn the steering wheel? If you're travelling around Silverstone at max speed perhaps but this car has no issues whatsoever going around corners, in fact it's one of the better cars I drove.

Sorry but this review is pants and anyone interested in a Karoq should ignore it. This reviewer is tad like Jeremy Clarkson, he seems more interested in himself trying to be funny than a review of the car.

He made everything seem like a problem. Super annoying sarcastic tone. You should ask yourselves if he was paid to criticise it because he works for a competitor.

obviously you are not big fan of Skoda, but fact is, Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia, Superb even Fabia and Citigo they are all one of the best cars in their own classes. Yes there are cars better looking, more exiting to drive, but it is hard to find all rounder which is so well put together and dependable...Koreans seem to be obvious competition but then it is down to preferences of styles both interior and exterior...with Skoda you know what you are getting with each new model, with Koreans each model is looking completely different from previous, they are still looking for their brand design.
Skodas are selling like pancakes hence they are struggling to satisfy demand, they are selling more and more cars each year and Skoda is planning to built new factorty just to keep up.
BTW>>>Which car brand is the best seller in Poland? There must be more to it then just old sympathy from communism times don't you think? Skodas are good cars and that is a fact!

What we found in this video? Some polish guy with personal problem with Skoda. Thats all.

Is this guy's "thing" to be overly critical about irrelevant details or is he simply biased against skoda? Skoda has the best non-asian reliability when manufactured in europe. Compared to VW or Renault (some of the best selling in Europe), this car comes with more trim and better results per EU certifications, and has one of the best resale values in its class...

I have driven 1 Litre TSI Karoq and ignore anybody complaining about this engine. It is very responsive and agile. For two people it is more than enough. Unless you have a big family with lots of baggage or you are power

Almost every single youtube review about this car praises it and considers it best in its class except for this one. Something fishy is going on here...

The gap between the tailgate and the rear bumper is woth a purpose - in showy climate ice would accumulate on the rear bumper and would prevent the lid from opening if not for the gap.

There is a lot of complaining going on in this review.

Most of the reviews comparing this car to other cars in the same segment and similar price (Seat Ateca, Peugeot 3008, Opel Grandland, Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage, Toyota C-HR) recommend this car. And the video title is misleading. This was not a review, this was pure hate. And to say the Mini Countryman is better? Are you blind? It's like Fiat Multipla.

Liked the nod to the straight pipes sun visor test!

Problem now with Škoda is that it start to be too expensive and at the end of the day you have only Škoda

Perfect timing on this, was just looking at it on Skoda website.I will not look any further after this review. Onwards and upwards we go!
Sun visor problem? Still a problem in the Golf 7. It's damn annoying how car makers just can't figure out this simple feature.

As you said, Skoda in Western EU really isn't cheap anymore. Here it costs the same as a VW, wich at first glance is the same quality, but Engine noise insulation, road noise and so on aren't on pair. Sure the Skoda owners will disagree, but i owned 2 Superbs (2015 and 2017, both 3rd generation) and now have the second VW at home (Golf GTD and Tiguan) and you do notice the difference ;) But as long as people take Skoda as the new "Volkswagen" it will sell good.

Volvo XC40 T3 has 3 cylinders and puts out 163 BHP but I can see Skoda dropping that weak 1LTR come the MK2 REVISION of this car. This guy talks the Karoq down but nearly every one else gives it high praise and rightly so. And to all you snobs who compare it to the VW just shut up. My wife drives A 2017 VW 2ltr Touran and I drive a 2019 Skoda karoq 1.5 se technology and the karoq offers a lot more for your money.

I bought one of these in June and love it, vario flex seats are a great idea especially when transporting larger loads. Mine has full leather interior so keeping it clean is a breeze. I also have the one litre engine and it hasn't stalled once oddly??

Karoq price in Lithuania starts at €22400 for 1.0 TSI FWD highest price for 1.0 is €26000. 1.6 TDI starts at €22400 ends at €27000. Scout and R line trims are more expensive. Somehow Octavia RS also starts at €26k.

Hi Marek, I like your reviews and this is one of the best ones ;-) Really apreciate your hard work presented with style. Not many reviewers in Central Europe dare to say on loud that Škoda is selling cars with weak engines. And the spotting of seat belts cables, just lol.
