Crawlspace foundations were a big hit in older homes. The crawlspace allows for easy access to plumbing and wiring. These type of foundations are usually more comfortable for walking and standing. Crawlspace foundations also give a grande look as you walk up to the house.

If it can be done in your area full height basement and the way! Otherwise atleast do an encapsulate crawlspace. If you have to do a slab make your attic a condition space for all the mechanical.

It's not about being the best but about the cost and warm/cold climate requirements.

Now this is a WORTHY topic. Plumber, here; my trade is divided here in Western Kentucky. And very few basements due to cost (people are cheap around here)
