Thank you for bringing *teaching* back to YouTube! I've missed your makeup videos! And, I'm so sick of nothing but product reviews in my subscription feed! I want the old days of YouTube back - teaching & tutorials! Love you, Marlena! 💜

I work in a Sephora @ Kohl's and the number of women who have dry skin and either set their foundation or bake is depressing. "I have really cakey foundation no matter what I do!" Do you have dry skin? Are you using powder to set your makeup? "But aren't you supposed to?" No, sweetie. You need a gentle exfoliator, a good moisturizer, hydrating makeup primer, a good setting spray, and your skin will be flawless. You are not everyone else. You are special, and your skin naturally takes everything you put on it and absorbs it, the same way I take everyone around me and absorb their emotions.

I'd love a tutorial on how to avoid foundation getting patchy on top of a sunscreen! I'm 90% sure the sunscreen is the reason why my makeup looks textured, but also will never stop using it

This was more helpful for me than the hundreds of beauty tutorials I have watched. Understanding some science and ingredients is real education!! Thank you so much. Please, please keep doing content like this!! I’ll end up gorgeous!

Can you please do a tutorial for us older ladies over 60? I know you would have to use a model for the demo, but I’m sure a lot of us would benefit greatly from your expert advice!

I'm such a science nerd! I love when you explain the nitty-gritty, geeky stuff 😂. You should do a series and call it "The science of beauty" ❤️

As someone who has dry skin and NEVER produces any oils whatsoever, I've learned that my skincare really determines the look and longevity of my foundation. I love to spritz my face AFTER my sunscreen has dried down, I use the Sioris The Time is Running Out mist. This mist is part oil, giving my skin some much needed hydration and moisture. I wait 5 minutes before applying my foundation and I've never experienced any problems doing this.

A huge "Thank you" for getting back to basics with your vids. Not everyone was watching YT ten (or so) years ago, when tutorials/information was being shown. I'm really enjoying these 😊.

Love you 🩷🩵🩷🩵🩷

This is a very informative video. This has helped me to understand what I’m doing wrong. I’m 62 and have had a hard time figuring out what causes my makeup to (crumble or break up) while applying it. Please keep up these great videos. You’re amazing!

This was fantastic! Can you please do a similar video about choosing a powder foundation if you’re dry and prefer a compact? Thanks!!!

You, and Wayne Goss, teach so much more than any other channels I have ever watched having to do with beauty! Thank you so much for all your knowledge that you share and I so look forward to supporting you on your next endeavor!!! I will be there to support you!

I would love to see a tutorial where the sunscreen is included. My skin is dry, but any sunscreen I put on it turns me into a greasy mess. Anything on top of that feels like it slides off my face.

Hi marlena can you do a video on powders. I would love to know which powders are meant to be use for under the eyes and all over the face? How to choose the right powders for my skin type? When to use pressed powders and loose powders? Which powders do you recommend for oily skin? Love your makeup educational videos❤️

Thank you for sharing! After turning 40 a few years ago, things that used to work for me no longer do - my skin has changed so much. I’ve worn makeup since a teen and I’ve felt like I don’t know what I’m doing lately! Appreciate you so much!

It took me many years to nail down the perfect base routine. I am oily and once I added a face oil into my nighttime routine it changed everything. I’m still oily but am able to wear most types of foundations. You are so right about skin prep for a flawless base.

I have been using a thin velocity foundation with a sponge for quite some years now, up untill recently i started using my hands to apply it and then i will go over my foundation with a sponge to even it out (damp), and this way i have found my foundation to have higher coverage and it looks smooth all day/night i hope this tip helps people, i personally prefer the sponge because it gives the most smooth finish compared to brushes etc 🥰

I haven’t heard anyone talk about viscosity since my fluid mechanics class in school for chemical engineering…you’re getting into the details at a molecular level, like actually! I love it 😂

Seriously, Thank you so much! I’ve been having changes with my skin after having my second baby that my foundation looks gross and stopped wearing it. I learned so much 😊 ❤
