One of my top 5 songs of all time - I adore this song because it fits so many friendships passed through over time.

One of the greatest songs Bruce wrote. About Steve leaving the band in 1982. One of the four songs I would have put on the BITUSA record. Sadly, around 8 songs were removed from the album in favor of superior songs like "Frankie, " "This Hard Land, "Murder Inc, " and "My Love Will Not Let You Down" in order satisfy his manager and record company. As the Boss says in his book "Songs, " no matter how many copies BITUSA sold, it is one of his least favorite albums because it was a commercially compromised, grab bag collection tunes. "I'm On Fire" over "Murder Inc"? "I'm Goin' Down" over "Wages Of Sin?" You cannot be serious. Two songs that are on bootleg only in demo form (but were later recorded by the E Street Band in the studio) - "Richfield Whistle" and "Sugarland" - are superior to 75% of he tunes that were put on BITUSA.
