Alive in ‘85! Life was better back then. More laid back and genuine. The best time to be a child! Best entertainment and movies. Best cereal and snacks. Nothing was better than Saturday Morning Cartoons with a big bowl of Trix!
Our simple house with wood paneling, the velvet farmhouse couch, laying on the brown shag carpet, doodling in my ninja turtle and my little pony coloring books. My old room. 70’s furnishings in the living room with our TV set. The yellow rotary phone on the wall.
No internet or cell phones. Holidays with all everyone present. Tinsel and glass ornaments on the trees. Incandescent lights. Watching Christmas Vacation and Prancer every day because my dad recorded them on VHS for me. Watching Mr Ed and the Batman tv show with my dad, and being so excited about it. Visiting my mom at K-Mart and trying to help her put things away in the jewelry department. Her hugging me in the morning as she left for work, when I was still in bed, or when she came home. The smell of her avon perfume or Chanel no5. Her little silk scarves with holiday pins. My dad smelling like Old Spice and chevron grease.
The books my family, especially my grandma, would give me. My mom reading stories to me at night while I fell asleep in my rainbow Brite sheets. Being excited for christmas morning, being excited for every morning.
