Jupiter Wreck Trek

A dive at the "Wreck Trek" site off Jupiter Island, Florida on April 21, 2024. The three wrecks on this site were all intentionally sunk to create artificial reefs; they are the former tugboat ZION TRAIN, the barge JENNY and the motor tanker ESSO BONAIRE.

I first dove these wrecks more than a decade ago, and the ESSO BONAIRE in particular has changed quite a bit over that time as can be seen from the earlier videos posted that I posted here. The superstructure around her bridge has collapsed somewhat and her holds now have more penetrations allowing easier and somewhat safer passage. Many large Goliath Groupers gather around these wrecks, and on this day I had one with a stylish lip piercing act as my personal tour guide! At the beginning of the video you can see me assisting our dive guide in releasing a fishing boat's snagged anchor.
