“Father, when can I leave to be on my own?” is the modern day “Oh hi Mark”.

The funny thing is this isn’t the first time a foreign Pinocchio film got an absolutely bonkers English dub with an extremely unfitting voice for the title character, since the 2002 English dub of Roberto Benigni rendition had freaking Breckin Myer voicing Pinocchio of all people, so it’s funny how history repeats itself .

I'm sorry Pinocchio is supposed to be a puppet, he does NOT look a puppet. The only thing wooden about him is his performance.

As a resident of Russia, I want to say that even here, no one knows how this cartoon appeared. No ads, no announcements, nothing. It just happened. It became known only when the first reviews appeared. Mostly negative, of course.

Someone, I beg you, show him "children against wizards"!!!

Man, if I had a nickel for every time a foreign Pinocchio film got dub with a hilariously unfitting voice for the puppet himself, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

The fact that even Pauly Shore himself was roasting his own voice acting on social media along with everybody else makes this even better!!!😂

2:46 Oh, so it’s based on “Burotino’s adventures or The Golden Key” Russian analogue of Pinocchio. That is why the story is so different. The only similarity is that each story has a wooden boy. The original Russian story has the Country of fools and a giant talking turtle who is changed to a fairy in this film for whatever reason, but okay.

This movie looks so different because it's based on another book.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the writer Alexei Tolstoy began to translate the original fairy tale about Pinocchio, but he was so impressed that he composed a new story with a common beginning and called it The Golden key or the Adventure of Pinocchio
that's why the cartoon can look a little crazy, but for us it's a strange cartoon with familiar characters.

I've never watched that one myself, but I can see that they kinda (really poorly) tried mixing Pinoccio with Buratino.
Buratino (or Golden Key) had basically nothing common with Pinocchio except the main character. In Buratino there was a puppet show theatre, with main antagonist Karabas (who basically used child labour and was a cruel man) and a there were bunch of kids who worked in the theater. Except Malvina (the blue haired one) was a runaway in that version. The point of that story was that Buratino had to find the key, that was hidden in his father's home, behind the fake fireplace painted on the wall, before Karabas does. While Karabas was hunting Buratino to make him say where the key is hidden. Buratino never had a dream to become a "real boy"
I also see what characters they added from Buratino in this movie but they are playing completely different role there.
Overall yeah, pretty shitty movie lol

For me, Pinocchio getting shot by the cat is best part of the movie

Tom Kenny is one of those actors who is wonderful and iconic but somehow had the word "NO" surgically removed from his vocabulary. SpongeBob and Ice King are too good for this movie and Elf Bowling

This is a true story. The events depicted took place in Italy in 1826. At the request of the survivors, the names have been changed. Out of respect for the dead, the rest has been told exactly as it occurred.

Pinocchio is insane movie, but there is more insane: "Children against Wizards" ("Дети против Волшебников" in Russian). It's anti Harry Potter movie, in wich HP is the servant of the Devil, and evil Scottish wizards want to abuse Russian innocent children. Best animation (no), plot (no) and characters (no).

I am so glad that our "masterpieces" of animation were noticed in the west, I am waiting for more reviews from the critic

Pinocchio doesn't even look like a puppet. His design is the same as all the human characters, he doesn't have any joints or angles, and his body bends and moves like a normal person. The only indication that he's not a real boy is a slight wood grain pattern on his face, but that's not even very noticeable.

In 1923 Alexey Tolstoy, who helped with translation of "Pinoccio" by Carlo Collodi to russian, wrote a remake supposed to be closer to modern soviet society - "Adventures of Buratino" which became classic literature for kids and had decent movie and animated film adaptations. Almost a hundred years later Vasiliy Rovenskiy remade "Buratino" back to "Pinoccio" in attempt to be closer to modern western society, which became a disasterpiece.

This might be one of the fastest turnarounds for a Nostalgia Critic review, and if any piece of trash deserves it, it's this.

This movie was made to be NC'd 😄 So many laughs, but I lost it most at 14:03 when Rob brought back his Jeff Goldblum impression 😄It's clear your team had alot of fun with this and it shows in every segment.

It's some kind of genious mix. Foreign names were added to the characters of the fairy tale "Буратино" and called "Pinocchio", plus they invited excellent voice actors. It made my day. Thanks for the review!
