Dangerous Waves / Myrtos Worlds No1 Beach / Kefalonia Greece

Tackling huge waves at the worlds No1 Beach Myrtos on the Greek island of Kefalonia in the Ionian sea. The waves during the winter are generally too dangerous to swim in but even in the summer months care has to be taken when swimming.
It can be such a contrast from calm, crystal blue clear sea water to powerful, roaring waves.
Never turn your back on a wave, they can be calm and gentle but without warning can become powerful and relentless.

pac mac is absolutely right, experienced it with my friends. once you get in the water in a 'wavy' day it's very, very hard to get out... just sit back on the shore and enjoy the huge waves! :) However, I did catch Myrtos in a calm day too and it was the most enjoyable swim I've had in my life :) my favorite Greek beach so far :)

Awesome video, nicely edited, though will say do take caution swimming at Myrtos on "big" days, theres a strange under current at this beach, that has drowned quite a few people, used to Surf in South Africa, this beach is dangerous in wavy conditions,  where that pebble bank/ledge drops off, it causes a vortex can suck anyone under regardless of swimming strengths, so be careful guys and to anyone who visits Myrtos, leave taking on the waves for the brave ;)
