How to paint cabinets like a pro ✨

This one was highly requested, I hope this video is helpful. Drop your question below and I’ll try to answer them as best I can ❤️

Products show in this video ⬇️

Degreasing cleaner - I like using TSP but any de-greasing cleaner will do.

Sander- When it comes to prep sanding is always best, I like to use a Gator block and 220 grit sandpaper combined with my orbital sander for larger areas.

Deglosser- For large jobs like kitchens, Liquid sandpaper and M1 gloss remover are great alternatives to sanding. They help to scuff the surface so the paint can better adhere.

Painters tape - Frog tape and Scotch blue are my favs.

Primer- Trust me when I say, do not skimp on this step. The key to success is all in the prep and primer is so important. I always reach for B I N Shellac, because it blocks previous stains and natural wood tannins. There’s nothing worse than having stain or tannins seeping through your fresh paint.

Paint - Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane enamel is my go-to. Behr alkyd Enamel is a close second and it’s a little more affordable.

Brush - Purdy XL 2.0 or 3.0 angled brush.

Rollers - Purdy mini roller frame and ultra finish 3/8 nap roller, give a smooth spray like finish 🙌

Big shout out to my Dad for letting me film this process in his kitchen, it’s wild how much of a difference it made👏

Pro tip from someone that did paint cabinets for a living, use the microfiber roller sleeves, but you need to 'pluck them' and can only use them once or else they shed like a mfer. But dang do they leave the best finish, especially with semigloss paint. I love the sherwin williams contractor ones, as they're generally cheaper than the purdy sleeves and leave the best finish in my experience.

If you use a shellac primer or oil based primer, make sure the windows are open or prime the door’s outside and keep anything that is flammable away.

That colour is giving 1960's speckled melamine and aluminium table vibes.

This is the second time I’ve seen these handles for cupboards. I’m gonna have to get some now.

There are special hinges designed for this type of cabinets that install inside the cabinet for a no-hinges look, by the way.

Looks great. I stained oak cabinets with a gray stain. Painted counter tops white and painted it to look like marble. Came out good. People say when did you get Mable counter tops?

Should use a paint sprayer. So much quicker and easier!

This is a really good video, I think. This video also makes me think I too can do this. But I know my brain will give up at the sanding part lol

Isn't this the way we all do it? Except I also apply undercoat and rub down.

Also, dust off your cabinets after sanding with a dust brush or cloth.

How do you not have brush marks? I’m getting ready to do this to my cabinets, but understand sprayers are best. Appreciate any advice
