It doesn't surprise me that many people are selective readers and only choose to read what they want. In this Episode of r/entitledparents, we see an entitled dad pull that and it backfires badly. Enjoy!!

Even if someone DOES love kids and would probably ADORE your kid, you can NOT get into a relationship under that false pretense and then spring something like that on them.

_"But you said you like kids! Why are you mad??"_

Even someone who absolutely LOVES basketball, would still probably be _Less Than Thrilled_ about a basketball being *_bashed at full force into the side of their skull._*

This just proves the point that a lot of us women have been saying for a long time men do not read the BIOS on dating apps.

That first one - I can relate. I’m glad they were able to clap back, at least. It’s necessary, otherwise those scars will run deep.

I don't think that the dad in the first one is 'entitled'. He definitely shouldn't have been rude, but at the same time the dad sounds like he's genuinely terrified of dying from the pandemic.

Ya I can relate to the last story. I don't have kids, never really wanted them. You would be surprised at the single parents who came out of the woodwork. . Of course they didn't want anymore kids, so a childless person was considered the perfect mate. And then couldn't understand why I didn't want to help raise some other woman's kid. Not to mention dealing with the drama of an exwife.

About the first story... I don't know about the whole situation per se, but I'd like to say that me and my mum had for months now a lot of quarrels with my dad who was infuriating. There was one day my mother called him an ar***, and this was really a lot coming from her.
For some weeks now, we've been discussing all together more calmy and realized that his behavior had more to do with the stress of the pandemy. We encouraged him to talk, something he was never used to do with his own parents and he calmed down. He's still not very used to open up to people and there are times when he goes back to being infuriating but he realizes after that he's in the wrong.
I'm not saying everything should be shrugged off and forgotten (in fact it's the contrary) but talking can help.

Confused about first story. I get that the dad blew up over Something minor (that he clearly didn’t see) but the story sounds so strange... like we are missing some background details. Is this a pattern for the dad? Or was it just out of the blue and he doesn’t usually act like this? Does he had a substance abuse problem? And how old is this op? Still living at home although university is ... soon?

And I didn’t understand the part where the op is making fun fun of his dad’s “excuses” of “I didn’t have time” and “how was I supposed to know”. What do these “excuses” even mean? They don’t make sense in the context of the story.

The dad is defending himself for his screaming by saying he didn’t have time? didn’t have time for what?

Sounds like an angry household and a resentful kid to a dad who seems to be controlling and angry.

Lots of people are going to yell at you in your life. If you lose sleep over something that minor, don't go to university until you mature a bit.

I understand there is a pandemia going around, but still.
When people go nuts and start screaming at you and insulting you because it looked like you touched your face, we have a problem. This is not normal behaviour in a working, balanced society. We are heading to big trouble.

Wow. Hearing that "respect your elders" is considered an outdated concept really hit home the fact that our elders ARE the ones that guided us to the world we're in now. Grandkids are speaking out about where all that "respect" got us (lost) and our elders advice sucked.
