TCA & Jessner Peels on Ethnic | Olive | Darker Skin | Preparation | Percentages | After Care | Body

Today I want to elaborate for a few minutes about TCA (& Jessners) peels on those with medium (olive +) to darker skin types. If you have a more melanin-rich skin tone, and are wondering if TCA is for you, relax … yes it is. All skin types can safely use TCA with proper skin conditioning.

You are here because you are wanting to try a TCA peel. So, first let’s figure out what your Fitzpatrick skin type is.
The Fitzpatrick Skin typing is a detailed classification that gives indications as to how a certain skin type will react to various treatment conditions.
Skin color, unaltered eye and hair color, ethnic origins, and response to UV light are all examined. Based on these findings, we end up with six different Fitzpatrick types that begin with very fair skin and graduate to very dark skin.

What we have found is that no matter how much melanin is in the skin, if you fall into types 4, 5 or 6, you will need special skin conditioning when you are looking to perform chemical peels to help avoid complications.
To simplify this, if your heritage is Mediterranean, Asian, Latino, Indian, Native American, African or any range that is not very light, you will need to pretreat your skin.

"melanin rich skin tone" I absolutely love how respectful she is in her description of our skin tone. I went to a dermatologist office where the patient care specialist called my skin black and I was totally offended and I just figured she didn't know any better. Thank you for being sensitive to your customers who grace your business.

Everyone especially African American women should view this video prior to having a chemical peel. African American women are investing in skin and health care like never before.

We have discussions on Social Media and in public forums.. We have a desire to delve into cosmetic procedures but are nervous due to our ethenic skin..

This video was very insightful and answers questions we need answered regarding chemical peels.

I agree. a doctor called my skin "colored " and talked as if something was wrong with having darker skin. n said there's no treatment unless I had fair skin and only suggested vitamin e. smh..
thank you !!❤

I live in a small town and a dermatologist told me he wouldn’t give me a peel for my malesma because I am latina. He said I would end up with more hyperpigmentation and make things worse and those peels only worked on light skin. Didn’t offer any solutions outside of hydroquinone which sadly has not worked for me 😢

So excited to try this!!

Been trying to peel my legs for months to no avail. I am an African woman and finding out my legs are getting uneven with hyperpigmentation and my products are not working on that area. Glad I found this video.

I wish I had watched this before I tried a TCA peel a few months ago. I got PIH on my chin and I was really upset afterwards. I will definitely try your products and regimen outlined here!

Do you have a PDF with all the required products, and step by step instructions? I'm feeling overwhelmed with the products and options. Do you offer a whole package for olive skin type where everything needed and instructions are in one package?

I have been using resurfacing Cera Ve retinol which faded my spots just a little for about two weeks(3 times) in each two weeks, no fade bright and I have stopped using the retinol for about two days now... I have dark spots from scaring that has been there for a while... and I use Cera Ve cleansing liquid soap everyday.. which has hylaronic acid in it ....I have bought your 13% TCA peel from your website and was given free emu oil to use during the peel... I just want to know if you feel I am pretty much prepared and ready to do the TCA peel.. I’m kinda nervous for scaring.

What if Ive been using tretinoin + steroid and hydroquinone, does that count as a good skin prep? I also have tretinoin on it's own. What would you recommend out of the two? thank you! Your videos are greatly appreciated

I have a question :) I use the ordinary "alpha arbutin 2% + HA", the ordinary "niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%" and a product that includes vitamin C in my regular routine, do they already work or are enough as melanin inhibitors? Or do you have a better recommendation?

And I have very thick and oily skin, many of my skin care products include acids and are exfoliating, can I still use them after the tca peel or will it be too much for the skin so that I would have to focus more on hydrating products?

I have the alpha Arbutin acid from the ordinary, could I use that to prep as a melanin inhibitor?

Great video! Can I do lactic acid peels between tca peels? If so, how much time between each peel type?
