You missed the perfect opportunity to play Mario teaches typing on this setup

There's now a follow-up to this video, where I use this setup on a proper PC! For those who asked for Mario Teaches Typing, here you go.

making a famicom keyboard a part of my main setup sounds VERY "form over function" but i would *absolutely* do it regardless

..."plastic balls"? Back in my day, we used overcooked balls of egg yolk.

It just dawned on me that Scott the Woz shed some of his borderline into this channel from the time AK phoned him to play games

17:24 Actually I seem to recall that somebody went through the source code of that, and i think that while the game has references to super scope, it does not support it. I think the same goes for the SNES mouse but I'm unsure

*EDIT:* I just rewatched the video about this, and neither are supported but both are referenced in the code at least one.

Just a small tip for getting slightly more performance with Windows games/applications on a Mac (at the cost of slightly less compatibility): you can use WINE or Crossover to avoid emulation entirely and run applications at near-native performance.

Imagine being in an office and you pull this out to do all your work

10:20 honestly, with a bit of reverse engineering a modified SMB copy with famicom keyboard functionality seems doable... Sadly i never got my hands on nes/famicom stuff but yea, it would be really cool

You were able to play Rhythm Doctor just fine with the keyboard so the input lag's probably coming from Dolphin or your display.

Honestly you're better off playing RHF on a CRT and Wii (U)

First game you picked proved you're a man of culture. Oh, and also you're insane, but we love it!

The Famicom Keyboard is nice, but the ultimate Gamer KeyboardTM is the GameCube ASCII Keyboard Controller. :)

you can apparently play snes doom with an snes mouse in the first slot (it works in an emulator not sure if it works on real software)

Now you can finally play DOOM with a FAMICOM peripheral. Finally.

The perfect setup for playing Mario Teaches Typing

It's true the more you support a peripheral the better it's lifespan with R.O.B. being the worst example lol. Standard Famicom keyboard support in the games was totally possible. Yeah I'm sure a lot of people could say that, first time they tried these games was on a keyboard/mouse through emulation. ;)

Dang, now I gotta get myself a retrode so I can make my Mario Paintings on official hardware while still being able to screencap them in HD!
