Being a German, though born '75, I feel deeply touched by this. After we caused the worst nightmarish catastrophe imaginable in the 20th century, at least we built a car that still puts a smile into peoples faces and ended up being symbol of peacefulness and freedom. It meant a lot to us - or at least to my father. He felt quite responsible and guilty himself even though he'd been to young back than, but he grew up in the WW2 and saw the world burning and the ashes and ruins that it left behind. Every time we watched the Disney Herby movies (they run countless times on tv) he wanted me close to him - it took me years to understand what had been going on in him. Hey always said: "Look, they love our car! Can you believe this? They really love it." - Sorry, I couldn't resist to tell this. Really great documentary! Have a nice one! :)

I have watched this video 3 times in the last several months. Still enjoy seeing the 60 beetle bought back to life. The stories of the bug owners and what the little means to them is awesome.

I Mom and Dad owned a VW Beetle when they were newlyweds back in 1967!!!! They had it for 4 years and and traded it for a VW station wagon because I came around!!!! LOL!!!😂😂😂 My Dad said that the VW Beetle was very reliable, dependable, great on gas mileage and it never broke down!!!! For the length of time they owned it !!!! They said they needed a family car when I was born!!!! I wish they still owned that car!!!! Its a classic!!!!😊😊😊

Exellent production. Congratulations!!! I'm 72 years old and I always loved the BUG.I never drove nor owned one. Someone in my family or friends had a BUG at some point in their lives. It brings me fond memories of my childhood back home in my country Colombia 🇨🇴. Thanks a lot. Great job 👍👍

That's what cars truly are about. Moving, but also making memories.

We have a sweet 68” bug that took a lot of TLC to get him road worthy again. He, Fillmore, is a driver not a trailer queen and we love him as he is. This my 3rd one, bought my first one at 18. 2 were early 70’s models. Drove those cars everywhere, every kind of weather. My Buddy rolled the first one, rebuilt it, later sold it because of trans problems. Sold the 2nd one in the late 90’ to buy a pickup. Got the 68 about 4 years ago on a trade for a 6 cylinder 2001 Mustang. I never give this one up.

Cool video. The Bug must be the most recognized car in the world. I will have one yet. Gotta love 'em.

I Just got my '71 Type 3 back on the road. I'd owned a '69 in the 80s and have missed it ever since. I'm falling in love all over again.

I bought a new VW Beetle in 1976. Drove it for 20 years, maintenance was relatively easy and I did most of it myself.
Still miss my VeeDub, great car. Used it to travel to work, and many memorable holiday trips in South Africa.

I had a 1303 for a while. Those were the best of times, and those were the worst of times. But sometimes I still miss her.
Well done, thank you.

They are fun to drive. I recall that in early Bugs, the oil filter was a long narrow metal screen.

Tomorrow im picking up a 1963 baja bug 1600cc im so excited just for the nostalgia as a kid watching my uncle build a number of them and sanpacers(meyers manx) he was also a successful race car driver in class 1 offroad buggies and his engine was a very powerful vw that scared the shit out of me when it revved up when he retired from racing he had it made road legal one of my best memories was when my father borrowed it and dropped me to school and on the way we detoured thru the local akarana golfcourse watching my father giving the finger to bemused golf enthusiasts shouting ya rich pricks!
as we jumped over the banks tearing up the fairway then arriving at school my dad revving the guts out of it to attract all the kids who were now climbing on the fence to look at who was in the CRC sponsored buggy me taking my helmet off knowing Im king for a day as i watched my dad drifting out of the carpark who was that? just my old man🤭 growing up in New Zealand in the 1980s vws were so common that on roadtrips my dad invented a game called motorbikes and Vdubs where whoever was first to spot and call out vdub or motorbike would get a point also police were worth an extra point lol sadly not the same game these days. everyone worldwide has a story or memory involving this iconic car.
Love that.

Recently, i have got into Formula Vee and i'm constantly on the lookout for VW aircooled parts. I confess, i was somewhat envious of the footage of the Mexican taxis, stacked up awaiting crushing :0[
