Back in the mid 2000’s my brother and I got into nitro RC. He had the original savage and it was insane for the time. It handled runaways, temper tantrums from a teenager and just insane abuse. My only gripe was the engines were so finicky to tune. You just answered all our frustrations with the fuel tank. If only 13 year old me would have known.

I have a classic T-Maxx from 1999 and it is hands down nothing like a savage. It’s smaller and fragile.

After being in this hobby for 35 years, I can say that when I see the new models released, as they describe them, I am imagining the necessary upgrades and fixes. Like we see clearly where they are weak or need upgrading. The suggestion of future need of aftermarket and replacement parts is so obvious. I guess to the newb its SO AWESOME! but to me the purchase would be doubled at least.
