US has a global navy so having a fleet of large destroyers to escort carriers is natural. China is trying to defend the coast and territory against mighty U.S. navy so building a large number of destroyer is understandable. Both countries are also big in size. Then why would a small country with constitution clearly stated “no offensive military” Japan has so many destroyers? Historically Japan is only invaded/occupied by one country US till today. The two neighboring big countries Russia and China never attacked Japan in thousands year. Germany labels their destroyer as frigate is a stretch but not too far, Japan calls their carrier with F35B a corvette is just ridiculous.

And the classification in the Republic of Korea Navy is frigates, but there's 'Chungnam Class', which is actually larger than 'Gwanggaeto The Great Class' and can actually be seen as a destroyer.(FLD 4, 300t - 6 ship)

I don't know what experience the U.S. Navy has. Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq? Do they have a navy? The last time the US Navy fought was during World War II. Did it work?

watching from China. If you know a little of 055 class, you should know it`s a monster

I believe Australia is now building four or so 'hunter' class 'frigates' which are essentially full multi-role rebadged and modified UK type 45 destroyers. At over 8000 tons each they may as well be full fledged destroyers in their own right.

China is a country that shouldn't be taken lightly. They have the man power and equipment. Also they are not being held hostage by the weapons platform companies that built that plane or launch systems to name a couple like the USA is.

The US Navy's operational experience will always overshadow conflict with any other nation, other Navy's admirals read biographies of US naval operations leaders to learn how to get thimgs done right the first time"which is the only time in actual warfare"

The zumwalt never entered service, the US isn’t developing hypersonic weapons any time soon and for now the only two remaining fields the US holds the edge are aircraft carriers and submarines. And even those two fields China is catching up

China has 055, planing to build more and better ships. YJ-21 hypersonic ballistic missile, type 1130 CWIS(over 10 000 rounds per minute) and going fast into super carriers and 5th gen carrier jets. If it goes on like this we won’t be best for long

maybe you can also compare (average) ages of each one, and also yearly production currently

I dont agree that destoyers represent the true strength of a navy, when the USA has nuclear submarines capable of laying waste to a nation, and aircraft carriers each carrying more aircraft than most nations. From Australia

Mistyped the weight of the Indian destroyer at 5:45. At 75 000 tonnes the destroyer would be heavier than the Yamato, but the commentator says the plausible weight at "seventy five hundred tonnes" 😉

First of all, the Visakhapatnam Class is the most advanced Class of our Destroyers, not Kolkata...
2nd: just FYI, one thing has made these very potent....BrahMos...
and 3rdly: currently we have 12 World Class Destroyers in our Navy, not 10, and another 6 are in the pipeline

#3 Japan, 42 destroyers!

Wow, never knew the Japanese navy was still that formidable. WW2 Japanese navy was truly epic.

In that area plenty of conflicts between Russia, China, Japan even before WW2.
