I traveled down the great Mississippi on a paddle boat when I was five, I'm now 60, and it's a fond memory.

Twain's "Life On The Mississippi" is THE book to learn about the Mississippi, pre and post the civil war...Twain was a boat pilot for 20 years on the river...It's an amazing book filled with amazing history of the river...

I've lived near the MS River my entire life. It's NOTHING to mess with and this man is very lucky to have made it down twice.

My grandfather helped build that rock covered dam with the CCC back in 1935. My family and I visited the park just a couple of weeks after this segment aired. I have always loved Itasca State Park.

Born and raised on that River in New Orleans! We never lived more than 2-3 blocks away from it during my entire childhood! and I was a certified River Rat! Now I live in another State...but have to, periodically, return to that river and sit on the levee..taking in the sights, the sounds and even the smells!..It's like a rejuvenation of my lifeblood and being! Love that River!

Nice, I spent a lot of time on the River around Alton and St. Charles. That's where I learned to swim and ski. Brings back good memories even though I lost two friends on it. Also worked the 93 flood as an electrical lineman. Great video, , THANX . Glad I stumbled accross this.

The Mississippi is so cute and friendly at the beginning. Big and bold at the ending in Louisiana. Maybe one day I will get a chance to travel to see the beginning of the Mississippi.
