I was in a job interview today. The interviewing manager handed me his laptop and said, "I want you to try and sell this to me."
So I put the laptop under my arm, walked out of the building, and went home.
Eventually he called my mobile and said, "Bring it back here right now!"

I said, "$200 and it's yours."
Didn't get the job btw

I hate how social capability is one of the most important things about getting a job. It's not fair that the charismatic and outgoing people land jobs with ease, whether hard working or not, while a harder working but socially akward person fails to get a job. I once got turned down for a job because the interviewer made me do an improv act having to do with selling stuff. It was so embarrassing and akward to be sitting there red in the face trying to be an actor for 10 minutes straight, which I've had no experience in. By the end of the interview I had zero self confidence and was sure I would never get hired. It's really unfair that me, coming from a poor family raised by a single mother was denied a job based purely off of social capability. I just wish I could've shown them how jard of a worker I was.

Antonio, I wanna stop for a moment and thank you for all the effort you put into your channel which in turn benefits many, many people both young and old. I have started to watch your channel about two years ago when I started to get my sh*t together in high school and started attending conferences that would require me to dress in a formal manner. Of course as a young man I had almost not even the slightest idea about menswear in general and you helped me directly and indirectly to be the man I wanted to be and the one which made my family proud this year after successfully enrolling university. I continue to watch your videos almost everyday (whenever you upload) and your tips contribute to me in regards to my social life and in my interactions with new friends and professors in my educational environment, you are a great life coach for many people. I appreciate your channel.

Antonio, first off. Thanks man! I really needed this video, well at least the last 2 mins, I just got out of the Marine corps, and been applying like crazy. I spent a year in banking, got a call from an investment company that I really wanted the job so I did everything I could to make sure I was the right choice (with out BS'ing them) and after 4 interviews they told me I was no longer being considered. I learned 2 things today, there's is always another door open, and I shouldn't let this lose define me.

Thank you again,
Semper Fi!

This has been incrediblely helpful! I'm 25, have an upcoming interview, and appreciate the new focus on business communication, especially since Antonio is qualified in this area.

So you're saying I should stop wearing my chicken suit to all of my interviews?

The bonus tip was something I needed to hear. I know now why I failed at so many interviews in the past, but it's been a struggle to stop believing I'll never be good enough.

I purchased a minimalist watch from OG about 8 months ago. Goes with all my suits and outfits. Timeless (it does tell time though) and classic design. Can't go wrong with it and very affordable.
I like it when you put out content like this. This is why we try to leverage style to our advantage. It's a step further than simply dressing well and I think that's one thing which sets you appart from other style coaches out there. Thank you and keep it up!

Solid advice. After six years with a firm, I was laid off following a company buy out. Messy and unfortunate, but as the time ended I remained position. * Keep a positive outlook and be positive, it translates in every aspect of your life. A quick tip to add on his 'top 10'.* These past weeks I have been preparing for a career transition and have thus far interviewed via phone and in-person for a few firms. Nailed the most recent interview and did so by being prepared and following the advice of Antonio and others. Thank you!

Excellent topic and content! Additional tip: Send a thank you note, either by email or postal mail immediately following the interview. It gives the person being interviewed a second opportunity to connect with the interviewer and highlight strengths or address any weaknesses uncovered in the interview.

Last Tuesday my whole company received a 90-day notice we'd be laid off by the end of June. This video has a perfect timing to say the least. A couple of those points I will definitely incorporate in my upcoming job interviews.
Thank you, Antonio.
