"I ain't going nowhere"
*f*cking leaves home for 70% of RDR1*

At least Jack knows though. In the final cutscene where he takes revenge on agent Ross, he says "you sent him to do your dirty work, then you shot him like a dog". He understands that John didn't have a choice, and that everything he did was to protect his family

I think the worst part about John’s death is him mentally preparing in the barn. You can just feel every thought in his head before he walks out to face the noise. He knew his days of running were over.

I've never felt more sad in a game than seeing John get killed

It hurts me to know that Arthur gave everything for John and his family. And Jack had to follow the same path as his father.

To see John wearing Arthur’s hat, shows that deep down he loves Arthur

Arthurs death was the saddest to me because Red dead Redemption 2 was the first video game I truely loved. And Arthur loved almost everybody in the gang and would do anything for them. I wanna thank Rockstar games giving me a game I will never forget. Thank you

Arthur was such a deep, misunderstood character. Probably the best character rockstar has ever created. John wasn’t entirely complex but he did everything he could for his family. Both different, both great

To do all the work for Ross just to get shot 21 times, and to still stand like a REAL ONE.

John’s death hit the hardest. Everyone knew Arthur was gonna die or be arrested since he was never in the first game, but John was completely outta no where.

Sad to see the best gunslinger that ever walked the face of the earth die helplessly at his own home

Just 4 fuckin years later. Man rockstar pays attention to details

For rdr3 all I want is for it to be about either how the gangs was formed ending at the Blackwater massacre or a alternate timeline where John remembers what Arthur said and leaves

This scene didnt made me cry at first but when i played it again after playing rdr2 it all came crashing down

He died protecting his family. Besides from all of his killing, John Marston was a good man. Comes from Arthur, maybe.

I was 15 when RDR came out 14 years ago and I haven’t played through it since but my god I can still remember how I felt when John died.. I had never seen a protagonist die in any form of media before.. to say I was gobsmacked is an understatement. It’s only now that I’m older that I can really understand how dirty they did him and after playing through RDR2 it just makes it feel all that more rotten.

This whole interaction hit me. I never knew my dads dad, because he died when my dad was little. And my kids will never know my dad because he died when I was little. Here’s hoping I can break that cycle 🤷🏼‍♂️
