Why Pokemon Let's Go Failed As A Remake

It's safe to say that Pokemon Let's Go was not what we wanted for a Pokemon remake and failed to resonate with a majority of the Pokemon community. This shows more when we compare Pokemon Lets go to the original remakes Pokemon FRLG. In this video I go into detail about why Pokemon Let's Go failed as a remake.

The reason for Pokémon Let’s Go being made was to get the Pokemon Go players to get into the mainline games. It did it’s job. So it’s a good remake in what its intention for being made was.

The weird thing is that I'd rather play let's go then bdsp like at least they tried to do something different

Rivals can be friendly, but they have to be well written to be memorable. Barry is a good example of this.

People will hate me, but i think the capture mechanic was actually very good.

The main reason I hated let's go was the only mechanic in the wild is just throwing a bunch of pokeballs and you run out of money fast. Only time you battle is at a gym or a trainer and that was not fun

Let's Go seems more appealing to me now than current Scarlet and Violet, and BDSP.

Looking back, Pokemon Let's Go isn't a bad game at all. It just screams lost potential. As someone who grew up not only during the Pokemon boom of the 90s, but with the Yellow version, it saddens me that we have this misrepresentation of what made the original Yellow version awesome.

So I'm totally with you on why it failed, you only have the original 151 Pokemon + Melmetal & Meltan, their Mega and Alolan forms and that's it. You don't get access to the other generations like FRLG did. Now, I'm not asking for a 1:1 remake a la BDSP, but at the same time, they could've improved on what made the originals so great, instead of making a weird Pokemon GO/mainline hybrid.

These games are actually incredible remakes, they're just not for an entrenched Pokemon fans. If you stop looking at this as a mainline game and instead as an onramp to mainline games from people who were introduced to the series by Pokemon go

Gamefreak looks at the sales numbers

Lets Go didn't fail as far as Gamefreak is concernt, as it outsold every single one of the remakes.

Estimated revenue is also interesting to look at, as its a remake of yellow. However, Lets Go brings in the most revenue for remakes, the only one coming close is BDSP.

Even looking at Lets Go and the Original Generation introduction games (So every first game in a generation), only 5 of them outsell Lets Go (With most of them being later generation, from gen 6 and onwards, the only oddity being Sun and Moon, who brought in less revenue and the other 2 are RBG and GS.

So it might seem a fail for the fanbase, for Gamefreak it isn't.

I love Let’s Go. It’s my first ever Pokémon game and I’m deeply fascinated by it. It does a great job introducing me to the Pokémon world, I enjoyed so much that later I went to bought all the Pokémon games available on 3DS and Switch.

The greatest remakes are obviously heartgold/soulsilver. I want a REMASTER of these remakes on switch. I do not trust them to re-remake gold/silver with the current formula. They'll just ruin it

It seems like you're confusing rival with enemy. A rival is just someone you compete with to reach a shared goal. They don't have to be an antagonist, they just have to give you competition. You can prefer antagonistic rivals, but that doesn't mean a friendly rival "doesn't make sense"

1st problem of let's go.
It's a remake of yellow edition. Not a remake of fire red
They cut the sevii islands and the gambling
In terms of gaming nowadays. It looked like a demo. It was a way to advertise the switch.
2nd problem was the catching mechanism. Which I personally like very much. It was refreshing and I felt I didn't have to grind so much as I used to.
Believe me I love the old style more than anything, but it wasn't that bad.
They could remake it like pokemon legends arceus. This is the way to go.

Let’s Go is my favorite modern remake. I mean nostalgia is huge, but challenge running it is a lot of fun.

I will give this game some credit, overworld encounters are amazing, and being able to see shinies / specific things right there is god sent

39.99 dollars when converted to todays money is 77.91 dollars so its actually cheaper if you account for inflation

i genuinely enjoyed this game. i’m not a huge pokemon fan but i only really know the first 151 pokemon and that’s what i grew up with. i didn’t really play any other pokemon games with the newer pokemon. it was nostalgic for me.
