Fun fact: According to scan logs in Metroid Prime, the space pirates tok interest in Samus' morph ball technology and attempted to replicate it for themselves. This idea was abandoned when all of their test subjects ended up mangled when testing the prototypes. Yes, this is canon.

It’s actually because she was raised by the Chozo and has some of their DNA and training that she can be in the Morph Ball. Space Pirates tried to replicate it but got crushed by the ball.

I once read a theory that was based around the idea of how the player’s perspective changed to third-person in the Metroid Prime series when you used the Morph Ball, and it basically concluded that the Power Suit turned Samus basically into energy and could just “observe” her surroundings while in the Morph Ball.
