I firmly believe this music represents a realization for Freeman: All this time he had been fighting aliens, which while he was in Black Mesa seemed nothing more than monsters out to kill everyone. But upon reaching this jungle, he realizes that, much like on Earth, Xen is just another ecosystem. These creatures, they have lives, they have food chains, they have families, they have a home. They are no different than us. They were innocent creatures thrown into a world they dont belong in.

"Carbon stars with ancient satellites colonized by sentient fungi. Gas giants inhabited by vast meteorological intelligences. Worlds stretched thin across the membranes where dimensions intersect... Impossible to describe with our limited vocabulary!"

Who would have thought that Xen can be that beautiful? Literally the best and most peaceful moment ever in Xen (so far)
It just describes the beauty of an "alien" swamp area so perfectly^^

The moment I stepped in this swamp area and heard this music, I couldn't stop grinning like idiot

Joel, your soundtrack has become part of why Black Mesa is fantastic.

Its actually impressive how your music fits every scene in the game. You are a major reason why this remake is epic. I cant stop listenning to your tracks and that shows how good you are ;)

I am always amazed when you can get a story out of a piece of music.

Fear not what lies ahead among these otherworldly beings, dangerous obstacles and beautiful scenery. What you’re looking for is upon you. No time to take it all in, no time for doubt, no time to mourn those who were lost and won’t return.

All you can do is keep moving, and stay focused. Your journey is not over yet.

When I first saw Xen, I had an insatiable desire to see everything there.
The life it had.
The local fauna.
The mesmerizing sights.
Even in the later parts, with the industrial zone!
It was breathtaking, and the music really added to the atmosphere!
But I had a mission; destroy the one who would keep the portal between Earth and Xen open.
If only we had a game where we could see all it has to offer, but this by itself is satisfying in it own right!
Thanks Crowbar Collective, for making such an awesome game!

This soundtrack plus the forest, gave me a huge Ori and the Blind Forest vibe (Specially when I got to that big tree). Maybe It's because this music represents something epic and breathtaking while having an exploratory vibe, which is the same feeling you get from Ori.

This is easily one of the most beautiful pieces in the entire BM ost. The way the sound of those flutes dances around the steady percussive tapping, and then later is backed up by the at times subtle plucking of string instruments, followed by the quiet piano notes towards the middle to the end really gives it a kind of "Tarzan/Pandora from James Cameron's Avatar" feel, and yet there are some subtle aspects that I can hear throughout the piece (unfortunately I just can't put my finger on them) that also gives it an alien/otherworldly kind of tone. And the amazing part of it all is that you were able to take these two melodies that in my head paint very different pictures, and have them weave around each other to create a mix of both that is both familar and unfamiliar at the same time! And then the amazing visuals created by the geniuses who completely redesigned Xen while still keeping that same mysterious atmosphere only serves to make this piece even better! Outstanding job Mr. Nielson! Simply outstanding!

Best track on the Xen soundtrack. It's so mysterious, so alien, so... tranquil. For all the dangers on that world, it is beautiful too.

Hearing this for the first time in Xen literally made me cry. For a brief moment, it felt like I was actually in another world. I guess you can have a spiritual experience in a virtual world.

this one feels like a sort of... ethereal alien dance

and that's amazing.
