That's the sort of tone I've been looking for. Very organic and adds brightness to amps that need it without being brittle or cheesy.

Don Carr needs his own channel to just demo gear. His demos are simple, to the point, explain the questions one might have about a piece of gear without having to ask them usually [other than 1.4 or 1.7 in this case], and definitely makes one enthusiastic about a piece of gear.

Anyways, Don sold me on a Rat, and while I didn't buy Proco -- I bought a clone that seems a bit modded -- it definitely pointed me to a cool pedal that I'm glad I bought, and for only $50 no less. I'm thinking of buying a Fulltone OCD to fully cover my gain needs as far as pedals go and I think I might have to talk to Sweetwater and see what kind of deal I can get, because I had a Joyo Ultimate Drive, liked it, and now am quite interested in the real thing as it were.

This is the best demo of both the subtleties and attitude that this overdrive has. Don Carr really shows you what is possible with one of these. Thank you!

Don is the man. His demo's are my favorites on YouTube.
He really does a great job demonstrating the pedal and can smoke a fingerboard with no effort.
Love this OCD but I bought the Soul Bender and it has a superb sound with my Roadhouse Strat and Fender Blues Deluxe Limited Edition (the one with the Jensen P12Q speaker).
Now if I could just play half as good as Don.

Good review. This is the sort of review I was looking for. A guitar player using his guitar control knobs to access different sounds on the OCD. My favorite thing about the pedal is the way it cleans up when you turn down your guitar's volume knob. I use my OCD with gain at about 3pm so that I can access some killer solo tones and roll down the volume for rhythm playing. Excellent pedal. I leave it on all the time during gigs

I don't know what makes me want to buy the pedal more. The tone it produces or the guys face while he plays.

I first bought the OCD pedal when I was looking to fatten up and dirty up the super-clean and rather trebley tone of my old Musicman 1970's amp (solid state preamp. a Leo Fender mistake, then tubes for power stage-not a mistake). It worked great for that purpose, especially in the HP mode, with the gain about 10 to 11 oclock, the tone down around 9 to 10 for the warmer and more natural tube distortion sounds I prefer.

But I recently got a Mesa Boogie Fillmore 25, same tube set as 1960's Fender Deluxe Reverb, and so chimey but warm in its clean mode -it also has two other Boogied" modes with more and much more gain profiles, so cool. Regardless, in all gain all modes, Mesa advises keeping the midrange setting down pretty low.

So this video served to clue me in that while like the High Pass mode works great for my thinner sounding trebly amp, as it fattens the midrange, it isn't the best setting for my more balanced and definitely warmer all-tube amp, . So I just tried the Low Pass mode, and voila, this pedal sounds right and sounds good, and can stand being up to 12 oclock on the gain with my generally cleaner musical style. So back to being one of my favorite go-to pedals when playing many different genres at gigs.
