Layering Stencils in Epoxy Resin - Experiment

Hi all, after my spiderweb coaster experiment with the stencil film, I thought about using stencils in layers in resin. My only deep enough mould is this mini stand I got from a seller on Etsy a while ago, link in the tools below, but if you wanna have a go at this with a deep mould of your own please do!

Disclaimer: I'm not claiming this idea, by now I'm pretty sure everything has been done before in resin, at least everything I think of lol. But we all put our own spin on things, and that's fun to see. So if you've done something like this before holler in the comments, I'd love to see.

In regards to the patterns I used for the stencils: The diamond one was downloaded from a free site, and I edited it slightly for Design Space to be able to cut it. (Link below).
The damask was part of a pattern I THINK I bought from Design Bundle. I edited out a single design from the pattern sheet and used that.

✨✨

I really appreciate any and all likes, comments and subscribes, as a new channel they *really* help push me out there and I would love to build an audience within the crafty community.

I have totally fallen in love with this idea! Thanks you for sharing 😊 Have you tried using tacky glue, or gilding glue before adding your mica layers? Was just wondering if that would help the mica stick to the resin better, and since you are putting another layer of clear over the design, it would lock it in just fine.

I commented on your last video where you used glue on the mica powder and it got me thinking it would work well with holographic glitter. Now I have to try this for sure. Thanks for sharing!

Hello from mumbai, india. I was going thru youtube videos on stenciling on resin and came across yours which is the simplest method i’ve seen-others use glues/mod podge etc but i didnt want to ruin my stencils in case the glues didnt come off with washing. Your idea is by far the best one and i cant wait to try it. Thank you so much for sharing.

Looks good! .., But yeah, there's a reason "pouncer brushes" exist and are recommended for stencils. Brushing anything over a stencil pretty much guarantees seeping under the stencil unless you've got a sticky stencil. I think maybe you could get away with using a firm eyeshadow brush though. Also, UV resin might be useful for getting the layers done faster if you pounce it on right after the mica then remove the stencil before fixing any areas that need it and curing. Another option is a quick light mist of a spray glue but you might need masking tape for the edges if you do it that way since you made the stencils smaller than the mould. Keep experimenting! 😉👍

Why is it that you won't find any typos rewatching your video twice but as soon as it's uploaded there they are!
