This is why CBI has the best chess content on the internet. The official GCL website is not presenting the team info very well, but Sagar and Tania give us a detailed rundown of all the teams and players. You guys are the best

This is so unfathomable that a few days back Tania was playing for India at the Olympiads and now she is commenting on a tournament. I don't know if this aspect of her is discussed often but if it isn't it should be. I mean how often do you see in that and which sport! Mad Respect!!

Forget the league, just want to watch Pragg vs Arjun...Hopefully both are in form and give us an incredible match...

I think the SG ALPINE PIPERS will win GCL this year because of team’s unique combination of experienced grandmasters and young prodigies has made it a formidable contender in the global chess league and the women's section of SG Alpine plays a pivotal role, providing a strong foundation that empowers the entire team

Tania and Sagar is the second best commentary duo after Samay and Sagar

I think Alaskan Knights will win because Nihal will crush on the last board and Anish's fun nature will keep the team spirit high. Shakh and Nodirbek giving breakthroughs will play a crucial role

Rooting for Alaskan Knights. Everyone loves an underdog story. Plus I believe this is the tournament where Nihal proves his dominance and shows everyone why he was/is one of the four horsemen of our golden generation. Also this is where Anish gets back his form!

PBG Alaskan Knights will win as their
board 1 Anish has fire to again show why he is considered one of the best
Board 2 Nodirbek has been performing phenomenally and is a cold killer and has even been the World Rapid Champion
Board 4 Tan is the women candidates winner and quickly climbing spots and will definetly be a hard hitter
Board 6 Nihal Sarin is just one of the best prodigies especially in faster time controls so he may even show one of the most dominant performances in the whole tournament

Alpine sg pipers will win and mainly because four(1, 2, 3, 5) of the boards will perform exceptional and other two(4, 6) will hold their own

I was there on the first day of the event (Thursday). I got pictures with all my heroes (including Sagar! ). It was a special day for me. Watched Tania commenting live and have a lot more respect for her now. It is difficult to commentate live on TV. Her fake accent annoys me to no end, but hats off to her for pulling off both - being a top chess player and top commentator at the same time. The event is not properly hyped I would say. Also, not enough chance to meet and greet players at the venue. We had to sneak to the back gate to get pictures. So overall a mixed bag as far as event is concerned, but man getting a pic Vishy, Magnus, Hikaru and many more - was totally worth it.

Balan Alaskan Knights look as the favourite because of good balance in the team. Anish, Nodirbek, Mamedyarov and Nihal provide a good blend of styles which can be very dangerous for other teams. Tan Zhongyi is the challenger to the title so she will look to get a good performance in this tournament.

I think the Mumba Masters will win GCL 2024 because the team has an excellent bond. MVL being the icon player brings in a lot of experience in the team. Vidit is in excellent form as we see saw in Olympiad. Peter Svidler although not being so active in recent times brings a lot of experience which will be helpful. Harika and Humpy have been the pillars of Indian chess since decades. And on junior board we have an emerging star Raunak Sadhwani. The team has excellent bonding and balance. The women bring a foundation that empowers the entire team.

I think Ganges grandmaster will win because arjun and vishy sir would be in great form also Parham is a great rapid player also women board and junior board is solid they have great chance to win.

Last time also, the Alpines team was star-studded, but Triveni continental kings and Mumba masters made it to the final. In a team format, camaraderie and bonding play a huge role, so I would go with Mumba masters. Not biased at all because of Vidit (go Vidit)!

Alaskan Knights.. I believe Nihal is goin to destroy every opponent on board 6.. Anish might play solid Nodirbek & Shak are strong enough to get into an aggressive complicated line which induces time pressure n force opponent's to make mistakes on nerves 🎉
