They made different print runs, so if the box did not come from the initial run, you get black box, white box or the scribbled version (one of the corrected versions is actually the most valuable version). That’s why BBCE “authenticates” the diff print runs with notations on the authentication sticker.

The Donruss baseball cards in the 80's, had many error cards. They were our favorites.

That is so cool to be ripping that with Billy. Much respect to the Ripken Family.

Cool that this happened the FF on bat error. Dude wouldn’t be remembered if it hadn’t. About as good as a Bobby meachem or Dale Berra

Pitcher Bill Long white Sox 1986... my favorite card of all time! He taught me how to pitch when I was a kid.
Lived across the street from him for a short time when he played for the Buffalo Bisons. His jaw was broken from a line drive so he had nothing but time.
I bought a house in 2003.
It had a big wooden porch and slipped through the cracks was a baseball card tail side up.
It was hard to see what card it was so one day I pulled the lattice off of the front of the porch and crawled underneath.
I instantly got goosebumps when I turned the card over..
It was no other than Bill long.. great guy and one hell of a pitcher ⚾️🎯

O.R.I.O.L.E.S fan from 60's
Of of my favorite eras was when Cal Sr., Jr., and Billy were an O.R.I.O.L.E.S at the same time

I bought half of a case from a 90 year old lady at my local flea market and every box had a ff ripken in it and a partially obscure marbloro man. I now have 9 ff cards in PSA slabs grading from 7 to 9 mint. I also have the scribble out in white in a PSA 9. This is my favorite card!

A time when Topps packs sold for .50 & Fleer for .75. Kids have nothing today which come close. So sad. The joy in opening & trading cards. Building team sets & even sets.

Bonus point for getting Billy involved. I thought he resented everything about that card.

I was there when Billy and his brother played for the queen. The old field. Before Camden Yards.

Got me a FF Billy Ripken rookie. Its one of my favourite cards in my collection. Literally it and a Mookie Bowman Chrome Auto are my 2 favourite baseball cards.

In 89- I could get a box at a a store, open the packs and triple my money selling errors to a delicatessen. Every corner store was dealing in cards.

Billy is just happy someone noticed him and didn’t call him “cal’s brother”

I've got one! I was a fool, though. Had my choice between a Jerry Rice rookie or the "F face"!

You need a Samuel Stewart card... Great guy that turned his life around. Even pitched in WS.

I actually have around 10 unopened boxes in my closet from my childhood. Also have 3 or 4 each of the black out/ white out/ and uncensored card.
