The Los Angeles Lakers drafted Magic Johnson and the Boston Celtics drafted Larry Bird. And then the NBA chose to revolve their game showings around their 2 teams. And this created the high rise in numbers and attendance for the NBA that it needed. Showtime was the name of the time. One can say it was what Caitlin Clark is currently doing for the WNBA.
