Astronauts Send Thanksgiving Greetings From Aboard the ISS
Показать описание
Astronauts aboard the International Space Station wished everyone on Earth a happy Thanksgiving.
In a video shared by NASA, the Expedition 68 crew—NASA astronauts Frank Rubio, Josh Cassada, and Nicole Mann, and JAXA astronaut Koichi Wakata—shared thanks for the family, friends, and spaceflight fans following the mission at home.
'Up here, we’re on Greenwich Mean Time, which means that for half the planet, we live in the future,' Cassada said. 'So much so that we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving on Tuesday this year and working a bit on Thursday, but I think we’ll still have some time to catch some football and eat some great Thanksgiving fare.'
Astronauts have been celebrating Thanksgiving aboard the space station every November since the year 2000, according to NASA. Before that, the first Thanksgiving in space was celebrated by Skylab 4 astronauts Gerald P. Carr, Edward G. Gibson, and William R. Pogue on Nov. 22, 1973.
