For all of Piltover’s geniuses and prodigies, they were blind to their own problems and the inevitable devastation that followed. Only one character in the entire show sees the situation for exactly what it is and predicts the outcome perfectly: Ambessa. Despite not belonging to Piltover’s academic elite, Ambessa’s experience in the real world shows a clear direction for Piltover’s conflict. The show, however, goes through great lengths to obscure her wisdom by making her personality and aims so distasteful that we want to close our ears to everything she says, even her accurate analysis of Piltover and Zaun.

I love how Ambessa shows up, in 5minutes outlines everything they've done wrong accurately despite them refusing to acknowledge it and manages to predict the grim future. Reminds me of the James Franco meme. "First time?"

Also by the show focusing a lot on her relationship with Mel, a lot of it is buried beneath the mother daughter drama

Ambessa is a great example of what makes Noxus so strong and terrifying. They're jerks, but MAN are they good at what they do.
Just makes me look forward to when Noxus starts recruiting in the undercity.

Despite how little screentime she gets, Ambessa is still one of my favourite characters in Arcane. After Viktor and Mel.

I absolutely love the quote "You've let the problems of your undercity fester for too long." because of how it can be interpreted, it doesn't necessarily mean that violence was inevitable but if Piltover had actually bothered with trying to improve the undercity through public sector spending then they wouldn't have found themselves in the situation their in. Ekko and Powder are proof that the undercity can give birth to bright minds with potential and if they were given the respect and treatment they deserved than Piltover could've actually earned their title of "City of progress" instead their brutal yet ineffective law enforcement only leads to corruption, a drug epidemic, violent crime and and war. The council were too wrapped up in their self congratulatory mindset that they were too blind to the horrors they caused.

Can you talk about Vander and Silco "headquarters".

Specifically where Vander spends most of the time as a Bar tender, meeting with his people at equal footing, both literally and metaphorically. Going as far to approach them and retroactively going out of his way to protect them and negotiate with diplomacy rather than violence.

As oppose where Silco has his office high above the bar. Where he is physically distant from the people, and where a visitor have to meet on his level to even interact with him, and even then his back is the first thing they usually see first. Even Jinx who was at one point at a higher ground from the ceiling needed to approach at his level when interacting with him.

I think it's a very interesting dynamic between the two

Ambessa is great at seeing evil plots and hidden schemes that can bring down nations, but terrible at communicating with her own daughter, to the point that she can't effectively warn Mel of her impending doom. Arcane's characters are always most correct about the things they are furthest from. The closer to home something gets, the less objective they can be about it, and the more they screw themselves over. It speaks to the writer's room having a firm understanding of the human condition.

Ambessa’s quote about a leader being both a fox and a wolf is similar to Machiavelli’s quote in the prince. “A lion cannot protect himself from traps, and the fox cannot defend himself from wolves. One must therefore be a fox to recognize the traps, and a lion to frighten the wolves.”
