What is a battle vest?

Charlotte Desirée Stoffregen has spent a lot of time to get her battle vest ready for this year's Copenhell.

she's right about everything but where the battle jacket came from.
the battle jacket actually originated from american fighter pilots of the ww2 era. the pilots would decorate their flight jackets with drawings from pop culture and which squad they belonged to snd what not. this tradition followed with outlaw biker groups and after that it was punk rockers.

The 'battle vest' was started with bikers and then became a heavy metal thing. Just showing the metal bands you love w patches. The metal community is the best. Everyone is nice and just wants to rock out and have fun.

i had one in 1988- 1991. wish i still had it. But i only had one big patch on the back GNR
and a few small ones. that Girl is Cute & likes Metal. : )

Back in my day, they were just patches on a jean jacket. I remember my brother and his friends having the big patch on back of their jean jackets of a band. They use to wear Mack jackets underneath them. So this is not really a new Fad, just a new name.

SO in ww2 american pilots in ww2 used there planes or pouplar pop culture icons on there jacket shortly after those vets who finshed up in ww2 those who kept there jackets realized there was some restrictions with the jacket and some cut of the sleeves shortly after as well. THEN the mods and rockers and started doing this and thought it was cool and after the 60s were over the 70s were born with the up roar of punk around the punks made there jackets personal and used there fav bands but you may be asking whom brang it into metal the bald dude from judis preist i dont care about brought it into metal with spikes and just leather but then lemmy came along with the denim and embroidery and made the vest a bit more stylish.
