NEW DELHI: Tomorrow and the day after, China will kick off separate meetings of the country’s top advisory and legislative bodies—Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the National People’s Congress (NPC), respectively. Two sessions, as the annual gatherings are called, offer insights into the government’s focus areas and the direction of governance. This year’s sessions hold special significance: they fall in the Communist Party’s centenary year and will be mark the beginning of the next five-year plan. In this video chat, StratNews Global Editor Surya Gangadharan and Dr Rajneesh Verma, Associate Professor of International Relations, Huaqiao University of China discuss what these meetings hope to achieve.
