Why don't they use Dobermans for police and military? They seem to use Belgium Malies and German Shepherds exclusively. Just wondering cause Dobermans are my favorite breed! 😊

My dobie is a service dog for my lupus and congestive heart failure. He has been trained to do CPR, to recognize low and high heart rate, and even when I need to take meds. He also protects me out in the community. Add that to an incredible personality (he talks back to me when he gets mad, I swear!) and his Velcro attachment lol, this is the best dog I’ve EVER had!!

I'm so happy to see good info on dobermans finally. I raised my 2 kids with dobermans. They really watched over my kids outside in the yard. no one came in our yard, they patrolled the fence line. The day our son came home from the hospital, our 1st doberman, played across the bedroom doorway. She would occasionally go to the bassinet to check on him. When anyone went into his bedroom, she accompanied them, so sweet! She was never aggressive about it but, we knew she was telling them to be careful I'm watching. Dobermans have been getting a bad rap for so many years, they are great family dogs. Any breed will be vicious if you abuse them.
I was always afraid of my Aunt's chihuahua!

I miss my Dobe. He was the smartest. I'd tell him to put his toys back into his basket, one by one, I would call out each you by name and he'd get it right every time. I didn't train him either. Every night we would have to cross a busy street and sometimes it would be a bit of a wait. One night he sat down to wait, and i saw this smart boy of mine look both ways until it was safe, and he got up and we started walking across. I couldn't believe it, but he kept doing it. My smart boy. There were so many things he did that just blew me away because he either learned on his own, or it was instinct. He was a real fast learner. I had no trouble teaching him anything. He was such a love. Doberman's are the best

Watching this brought back so many incredible memories of my Dobermans, especially my first one. I could tell you so many stories about how Dobie exemplified everything you talked about. One example is how he protected me from being sexually assaulted. As a caution-to-the-wind 20-year old, I had made a date with a man I didn't know well and gave him my address to pick me up for a first date. (Yes, it's a bad idea, I know.) When my date came to pick me up, Dobie refused to let him in. He growled like I'd never seen before and when I tried to calm him down, he body-slammed the door shut. When I tried to open it again (safety chain latched) he pressed his muzzle into the opening growling and snarling to the point I figured I'd better pay attention. I told the man, "I'm sorry but I can't go out with you. My dog just doesn't like you." Later I learned that the man had been arrested for rape. Thank God for Dobie! And that was just the first time he saved my skin! He was my velcro companion and best friend. He went to the bridge almost 40 years ago and though I've had other wonderful dogs, I still miss him and always will.

Glad to see you covering the history of the Doberman Pinscher. Too many people have no idea how, and why the Doberman Pinscher was created. There are reasons why it is the ultimate all-around dog breed and best personal protection dog in the world. The show ring has hurt the breeding of the Doberman, just like many other breeds, but there is no better dog than a well-bred, working Doberman Pinscher. No other breed has the Doberman's combination of brains, brawn and beauty. I'm glad to see some facts being shown to educate others about just how phenomenal the Doberman Pinscher truly is. I had never owned a doberman. Two years ago got a husky/doberman mix as an 8 week old pup as a family dog.

She has probably 90% doberman mentality but has husky markings, blue eyes, and longer fur. I never knew all the dobermans amazing traits. I had owned plenty of huskies before. The dog I got is so insanely loving and attached. I was shocked that my 8 year old was able to teach her any trick quickly. The dog can standing leap onto any counter (I’ve lost a few unattended dinners to her!). She’s got a massive bark compared to her build. The bark morphs into a howl (husky) when she has to wait in my truck. Her jaws are precise and I’m amazed at the stuff she has gotten into and opened like a surgeon.

For those who don't own a doberman (yet), we aren't joking when we say our family dogs have no protection training, but can switch on a dime if they detect a threat near their families. They are natural born protectors, my girl is exhibiting these behaviors at one year old and I can't wait to see her fully develop and mature in the future.

We've had our Dobie almost a year now. I wanted one since I was a kid. We weren't even looking to get another dog. I was looking at a ton of sad dog vids on my YouTube feed. God steered me to petfinder and there she was front page all the way in Mississippi (We live in NJ) She came from a bad situation. She is such a incredible dog. She's small. Only 61 pounds. Before we got her She had a broken leg. You would never know because she probably hits speeds of at least 30. She messes with my pittbull mix, which is nuts because my pitt is no joke. She could care less thou. I never realized how clingy these dogs are. She always has to be right next to me or on my lap.

Dobes are incredible. I’ve had 4 of them, each one amazing with their intelligence, athleticism, obedience and unique personalities. However, I now have a Rhodesian Ridgeback because one of my dobes made it to 8 years, the others didn’t live as long. I could not go through losing another young dog. Hoping for a long life with this pup.

Dobermans had been part of my family since the day I was born... 5 decades ago.
When I was a Teenager I had a Dobbie male named "Ponky"...
He has to be the smartest dog that ever lived!! He was part of the gang!
He accompanied us wherever we went.
and we don't know how he did it, but he managed to figure out how to start my father's truck, (an 80's Dodge Ram) use his paw to put it in drive and go.
He stole my father's truck 3 times and the last time he did it in the middle of the Town while my father was at the bank.
Ponky managed to drive 2 streets by himself until he crossed an avenue and collided with another car.
The other driver and the witnesses were in shock trying to explain to the police that they had been hit by a truck driven by a Doberman. 😂
The insurance covered the expenses but my father promised to never leave the truck with the keys in it because every time he had the opportunity, "Ponky" would look for a way to get into it and take it away.

Have had Dobies the last 40 years - no other breed can take their place. They are companion, friend, everything else. Used to breed but now strictly adopt from done only breed rescue.🎉
