That shot where they fly over the prison is breathtaking

This might be the most beautiful piece of music I’ve ever heard. So simple yet so emotive. It just kills me.

Personally, I find the first 31 seconds to be the most gripping. It manages to sound ominous, solemn, bleak, and unbelievably beautiful all at the same time

One of the prettiest themes ever written...

Listening to this I realize how music is one of the most powerful languages

You know how shitty it is to realize Thomas Newman still does not have an Oscar. This man is such a powerful piece of all the movies he’s been a part of. Anyone with any musical background can appreciate the complexities of his scores across his films.

There is a wholesome loneliness to this piece. Have always loved it.

Andy Dufresne - the only man who crawled through a river of shit and came out clean on the other side.

The Cellos are so masterful in creating a somber atmosphere... Speechless.

Andy came to Shawshank Prison in early 1947 for murdering his wife and the fella she was bangin'. On the outside, he'd been vice-president of a large Portland bank. Good work for a man as young as he was.

My favourite bit of this piece is the violin intro. It's just so beautifully played

This song plays when I get off the school bus...

Everything Thomas Newman touches turns to gold. The fact that he has never earned a single Oscar is criminal.

Wow.  That is deep, deep.  An emotional Grand Canyon.  One of the best films ever.

To me this song seems remarkable in the way it is happy and sad. Like a .emory which was happy at the time but brings back sadness and pain when looking back on.

How it manages to provoke all these feelings is beyond me. Music is trully a fascinating aspect of our lives, one can even say there is no life without it.

This song has only one major flaw: it's only 2 minutes long.

This song reminds me so much of my dad...We would always watch this like once a year. Every time I hear this song I remember how much he loved to watch it with me and teach me about the many lessons pf life that the movie portrayed. I don't think I would have loved this movie as much as I do now if he hadn't been the one to watch it with me.

This will always be intrinsically linked with the fear and ominous trepidation of that bus carrying those fearful men to Shawshank, such an amazing film . Yet this piece also carries a strong sense of resilience and determination, go Andy <3
