C 3PO Character Rigging Test

I worked through getting the model into Blender for animation and digital character rigging. Each bone in the armature corresponds to a joint servo in the physical animatronic. Writing my own animation control system in Python to take the exported joint data and drive the figure functions. So far so good. First pass of a few seconds of animation. Still getting the hang of it. Long way to go. This is 120 frames out of a total 1700.

Absolutely incredible.. how smooth the motion is. if the servos/motors can do this, it will be fantastic!

This is really fun seeing you take the next level with this project. Next time I'm in Nashville, I'll send a message and see if it's possible to meet up. Hope you all are well there and staying safe. Cheers and best.

I’m trying to do the same thing with a different animatronic. Animate it in blender then export the animation directly to Arduino to drive the servos.

Another guy here wrote a program to control animatronics using blender animation. Have you looked into that?
