Before retiring from law enforcement I worked a call where a simi truck tire had blown, remnants of the tire went through the passenger side windshield of a vehicle next to the truck when it blew. The piece of tire hit a woman directly in the head killing her instantly. PEOPLE LISTEN UP! If you are going to pass a large truck get around that truck as quickly as possible and as far left in your lane as you can. I cringe even today when I see people cruising beside a semi for miles going down the road.

A trucker told me many years ago that the worst place you ever want to be is along side a truck when a tire blows out. Yet I see people going fast and passing trucks. When they get along side the truck they slow down and their brains turn to jelly. They stay next to the truck for miles and just sit there.

More than likely it was a left steer tire. When a steer tire blows it goes in that direction. You are hard pressed to steer it in the opposite direction. The thing to remember is, get off the brake peddle and steer as much as you can to stay out of a ditch. Use your trailer brakes as soon as possible to stop and hit your 4 ways as soon as possible so people behind you can react and keep from being forced off the road or hit your trailer. I just had one go out last year with only 24000 miles on it. Did not hit anything, but the tire blow out did $18000 in damage if I recall correctly.

That whole stretch of I 40 passing through the Little Rock area is way too small for the amount of traffic that it sees every day!

This is what terrible field conditions at OU will do to you.

Actually the left steer blew. If you look at the first frames under the bridge, it appears the truck jerked left before the crash. It was in the right lane.

Are we sure it wasn't an ASP trooper using stop-sticks on the truck before it could get back over the bridge to Tennessee??

It looks like possibly it was a trailer axle problem and he was fighting trying to keep it under control. I'm wondering if the trailer axle hit the barrier as he came around the corner and knocked it off because if you look the trailer is already sliding before it hits the wall.

Once I blew 1 trailer tandem tire and by the time I got pulled over that one tire blew 4 other tires in a matter of seconds. Never blew a Steer tire but I heard it's pretty terrifying ordeal to go through. This driver did real good considering the everything is sideways and tore up.

It looks like the right steer tire blew out.

Once blew a brand new steer tire from the brand that ends in ——year, 104 mile from the tire shop. Pulled the wheel out of my hand and sent me across from the southbound I35 to the north bound ditch, truck was totaled, that was one hell of a ride. You can be as strong as King Kong, when that tire goes you become the unlucky contestant in the you bet your life game.

it looked like that back trailer axel, the trailer was dog tracking from the onset going into the side barrier, idk that's what I saw.

It looks like the trailer tandem s pins may not have been secured in place the trailer tandem s.look like they came loose and right steer tire blew out too so sounds like two problems at once hope no one got hurt and hate it for The Tennessee Titians and hope they get another tractor trailer soon take care.
