In this Live Stream, I will chat about the current concerns about rising food prices and how growing your own food at home can help plus I will take your questions and answer as many as possible.



Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane - the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. Hello Mark, I just remembered my old remedy for keeping cabbage moths from laying their eggs on your cabbage (no to be used on other plants due to the tobacco in it). So here goes: 1 gallon water, 2 tablespoons of the hottest pepper sauce, 1 cup tobbaco (boil 1 container of coppenhagon chewing tobacco in two or three minutes and then strain the liquid off), 2 teaspoons salt (or one tablespoon salt), 2 teaspoons dishwashing soap (liquid). Mix all ingriedients together and spray the underside of your cabbage and spray the upperside also. I have another one but can't remember right now, I'm 72 and oldage is bitting me in the rear.
