For our inaugural episode of A4N — the Artificial Neural Network News Network podcast — we discuss real-time face recognition by London police, cheating in the famed Kaggle data-science competition, the landmark AlphaFold model for predicting protein structure from DNA, and how to become (or at least hire!) an A.I. researcher.

Dr. Jon Krohn is Chief Data Scientist at untapt, and author of Deep Learning Illustrated, the bestselling book that introduces artificial neural networks both in theory and in practice.

Vincent Petaccio II is a Data Scientist at untapt. When he’s not being featured in podcasts, you can find him at electronic music shows or pursuing his latest hobby, aeroculture.

Andrew Vlahutin is a Data Engineer at untapt and an avid follower of baseball statistics.

One thing CASP doesn't do is predict PPIs and PTMs. The type of PPI relevant to the protein folding problem are chaperones. PTMs make prediction solely on genome sequence unreliable. Another name for PTMs is epigenetics.
