People will act like if you're in poverty you deserve to only eat what is absolutely necessary for you to not die. If you are on welfare and get a coffee, they will use that as the reason you're not well-off, instead of the fact that cost of living has grown exponentially while the minimum wage in most states has remained stagnant for years.

I never buy soda. I buy water, coffee, meat, dairy and vegetables. It’s not for anyone else to tell a person what to eat. I eat very healthy, but that’s my choice. When I get back to work (injured) I won’t mind paying taxes to feed people. I will have a problem supporting wars!

So I went to “SPROUTS” it’s a VERY EXPENSIVE grocery store, me, I do NOT shop there EXCEPT for 2 items open bin grains and a treat for my kids. My grains were $18 for 1.5lbs. My kids spun honey treat was $12 for 8oz.
The lady in front of me had a cart full of expensive organize free range fufu food. I though “YIKES that’s gonna be spendy!”
Long story short EBT had her back EXCEPT for all her booze she had to pay for that!
I asked the store clerk about this, as I myself was on WIC, for a period of time. She stated “WELFARE AND WIC keep all these stores open!” She said it’s RARE that a person actually buys their own food here.
I asked do the employees at least get a discount or something? She laughed and said no, and thats why THEY have to shop at Walmart.
I’m saying something is VERY WRONG, if people can’t get benefits, and even we can’t afford the stores, WE ARE FUNDING, then WTF is going on?!

People get mad at poor people but they don't realize that our government is making rich people richer and making themselves rich in the process but yeah.... it's the hungry kid's fault

Some people buy other’s stuff for half the amount of money back to their pockets and that normally goes to alcohol or drugs which I know is true because I’ve been around those people and have bought some from them

Processed foods are notoriously less expensive and longer-lasting, meaning you can sustain a family better throughout the month. Most people can't wrap their heads around having one lump-sum budget for groceries per month. There are a lot of things i dont enjoy my tax dollars being spent on, but our welfare system isn't one of them.

Sadly is costs a TON of money to eat super healthy as well. Look at the difference in price for a gallon of milk vs 2L of soda. People want their kids to not starve so if they have to buy a ton of Top Ramen To feed them vs vegetables/quality meats that they can only manage to keep them fed a week out of month that’s what they are going to do

The processed food argument really rubbed me the wrong way- for people who live in food deserts- an area with no grocery stores for up to 5 miles around- their entire kitchen’s supply shopping is done at gas stations and dollar stores. They can not afford to take a car or don’t have the ability to ride the bus and carry back bags of groceries. How dare this woman judge someone for buying processed foods when her representatives keep entire communities from eating fresh foods?!

I would be more mad about our tax dollars supporting corrupt politicians but nobody seems to mind but me. If helping poor people bothers you that much you can always ask a corrupt greedy politician to take that $1 that goes to welfare out of your taxes. Seriously, look into where the bulk of taxes really go.

Pfft, try working a gas station or retail in the hood...theyre buying candy soda...or 12 packs of soda just to dump in the parking lot an bring empty cans back in for the deposit...system is crap

Privileged white guy talks about privileged white women. Bro never been to a bodega and watch them sell a pack of newports to someone using s snap card. Just upcharged them for the extra service.

About 80% of the people i know on snappies flip the cards for cash to buy drugs. . .

What the majority of the SNAP CARDS ARE SPENT ON? I would say in her case, blonde hair dye.

If they're using snap cards, they aren't buying treats, the tax payers are. "Sorry if people buying treats bothers you." Sorry if facts hurt your feelings. You didn't really serve a winning argument.

So you admit we're getting scammed as taxpayers? She claimed 10% went to junk food and you were like "nonono don't be silly it's 20% but I still think I'm right". Regardless of your confusion the fact remains that government assistance is for needs not wants.

I mean, if I ever ended up on wellfare due to personal injury or what-have-you, I'd make damn sure not to waste taxpayer money and use it to the best of my ability.

He sounds like he's been on food stamps before and never needed them.
