As a 70 something Californian woman who recently discovered K Dramas, my tv watching is now 99% Korean programming. The Eternal Monarch and Crash Landing on you sealed the deal for me. The Korean shows are written so much better than American programs. The stories have many layers, twist and turns and surprising endings. I am often left wanting more episodes. Just love the Writers and delighted women are rocking the dramas.

Kim Eun Suk is my favourite. But I should say that the writer of the Kill Me Heal Me is also great. Other writers also did a great job, shortly those writers made my life happy with their screen writings.

Now here is a handful of BRILLIANT, phenomenal women! I think I saw nearly every single one of my faves in these lists of great dramas. The few I haven't seen, are on my "to watch" lists. I've only been at it for less than two years, but have seen well over 100 KDramas and over 80 Korean movies already! Just don't care about European or Australian tv anymore (and actually gave up on American tv many years ago). I watch a few other Asian dramas and movies, but it's at least 99% Korean for me. The never ending variety of great programming will keep me enthralled for the rest of my life, I am certain.

Yeah it does explain their universal appeal with the more layered storylines, focus on societal issues such as bullying, single women challenges, familial relationships, etc. I found out earlier in my watching of these dramas that the screenwriters were predominantly female and it made sense to me why they speak to me more than American and other dramas do. There is a sensibility to them that is a bit akin to my favorite Jane Austen novels.

my latest favorite is Im SangChun, who penned Fight For My Way and When the Camellia Blooms.. it's hard to add thrilling dark sensations into bright comedy drama, but he succeeded..

my other favorites: Park HaeYeong (Another Oh Hae Young, My Mister) & Seo SukHyang (Pasta, Jealousy Incarnate)..

I cried so much in Crash Landing on You! I am totally addicted to Korean Drama—just love the roller coaster of emotions! My only peeve is that sometimes I don’t like the endings…they are almost too realistic and often don’t end on a “happily ever after” note. Case in Point: Crash Landing on You.
