Bought a 2nd hand M3 Macbook Pro 16/512 with 3 years AC+ for less than $1000! The magsafe, sd card reader, hdmi, and the ProMotion display are def worth it!

This year, the base Pro became a nice sweet spot for a lot of people. M3 Pro had serious omissions and the base 8GB RAM config was questionable at best. This year, there are no port omissions, no abysmal amount of memory (thanks to Apple Intelligence setting a new, more reasonable bare minimum for memory) and although M4 itself is still making me ask "is it going to be enough for a laptop with the "Pro" moniker", it still is good for someone who's just getting into creative stuff. People who have solid reasons to go for the M4 Pro know what they do for a living

On the other hand, combining this one with an iPad Mini 7 could be such a nice setup. Powerful, yet so portable.

I had originally planned to by an M3 Air maxed out, and at the time it was A$3599, when the M4 was released, I decided to go base M4 chip but upgraded to 24gb/2tb, and was only A$100 more for what I had planned to spend on the Air, it was a no brainer considering the the extra ports and better display. I had thought about the nano-texture, but my MacBook is pretty much in clamshell mode 95% of the time.

Just upgraded and got my M4 couple days ago. I upgraded from a 2019 Refurbished 13in MPB and wow I'm so glad I waited what a huge difference lol

I bought the m4pro and it works great with the 57” Samsung ultrawide dual 4K at full resolution 120hz through the hdmi port

I have it, my first pro. I’ve honestly found it uncomfortable to use after a while when typing. Returning and waiting on the M4 Air.

I remember in the 90s when I spent $2k (like $4k in today dollars) for a Compaq laptop. I’m still trying to decide if I want to upgrade from my M1 MBA which is still the best computer I’ve ever owned and going strong. I’d love the extra ports but worried about the extra weight. Love how light my air is.

With the holiday sales going on, the base M4 with 24GB ram and 1 TB SSD is selling for the same price as an M4 Pro with 24GB Ram and 512 SSD. I've been away from apple as my primary computer for a few years and going to go back. Torn between the two. I almost feel like with Thunderbolt 5 on the M4 Pro that I could add a 2nd SSD later on and not really notice the smaller on board SSD

i have the 8gb ram mba M1 chip and never had any bottlenecks b/c all i do is surf the web, but i ordered an m4 mbp with 24 gb just in case i need to have multiple tabs open.

Should I buy the MacBook Pro with 14” M4 Pro 24GB 512GB or the M4 Max 16” 32GB RAM 1TB? I also have 200GB iCloud for files too. I need it for beginners photo and video editing, programming, web browsing, watching YouTube videos, listening to music and podcasts with high quality audio interface and headphones amp. Maybe taking to university and cafes sometimes too.

The M4 base model should have been called "MacBook".
The M4 Pro models are of course proper "MacBook Pro" 's, much like in the olden days of eyewatering yet irresistible pricetags that were somehow still worth it because hell yeah, titanium.
Then there are of course the Max models, and what more logical choice than to call them "MaxBook Pro".
Which triggered Ive so hard he insisted Tim channel Jobs' eclectic yet unwaivering sense of leadership on the double and fire the smartalec in question for coming up with this ungodly bastardization of the Mac brand into orbit. Stat.
So they stuck with the umbrella name, mostly because it helps the lowly lounge crusader to feel like they are part of the real world which is essential to keep the reality distortion field in place that keeps telling us we need new equipment to make new things, when we just need new ideas.
