Why is Unhappy Campers the most HATED Helluva Boss episode?

Did you know this in Helluva Boss?

A couple days ago was the one year anniversary of unhappy campers, and to this day it’s the most hated helluva boss episode. So why is it so hated?

The first and biggest reason was how moxie acted. He went from a loving husband throughout season 1 and 2, to self centered and jealous throughout the episode which didn’t make much sense. It was cool to see millie taking the spotlight, but it came at the expense of moxie which alot of fans weren’t happy with.

The songs were overall pretty weak, they weren’t particularly memorable either.

The comedy wasn’t very strong, with most of the jokes relying on cringe moments or second hand embarrassment.

And the big reveal of barbie wire at the end felt wasted and didn’t last long at all. If the episode was instead centered around blitz meeting barbie it would’ve been more impactful.

Personally i don’t mind the episode and i love moxie as a character, but i can see why fans rate it the lowest. Do you think unhappy campers deserves it’s reputation? Let me know down below.

Millie also didn't get the episode as a millie episode, just another "moxie is humiliated and shown up" episode

My biggest issue with the episode is that it retcons Moxxie’s personality to give Millie the spotlight… but the episode doesn’t feel like it’s about her!

I genuinely can't stand the amount of second-hand embarrassment in it
Like, most episodes I can watch without doing anything, but watching unhappy campers I HAVE to do something to pass the time, and it feels like a chore to watch it

One of my biggest issues is that they figure out who the target is but Moxxie wants to drag it out. Like the episode is telling us this is pointless filler. Leaving that little detail out would make this feel more important.

My two biggest problems were how Moxxie acted like a complete dick the entire time and how Blitzø’s story should’ve been the A plot and not the B plot.

I think the worst thing about it is that we were promised that it'd be a millie centered episode, but it just ended up being a moxie episode in disguise. And we still have yet to see a millie episode. And yes, "hell's bells" was great, but it was more focused on her sister.

'Secondhand embarrassment' really sums it up.

The Blitz and Barbie scene will always be the most iconic/memorable part of this episode
It put a serious dialogue in the middle of a goofy filler episode

the secondhand embarrassment was too much i literally can’t rewatch the episode 😭

I feel part of the reason Ozzie×Fizz is generally more well loved than M&M now is because Oops and the mid-season special show the two being adorable AND properly talking out disagreements... right after Unhappy Campers.

My major issue with the episode is the investigation that was the whole purpose of IMP being there at the camp was solved in 5 seconds of getting there. I still think they could have done the investigation Moxxie talks to the girls Millie joins the game and she gets attention and Moxxie using that so he can investigate without causing suspicion. the Blitz and Barbie thing I dont know how I would change it but I enjoyed that for the most part

I personally hate it because it plays out exactly how I dreamed up a Helluva Boss story back in 2022 after Black Friday shopping for three hours.

Moxxie is still my favorite character in HB, but I hated him in Unhappy Campers. He acted like a spoiled child who didn't care about his wife and wanted things done his way, even if it was longer and more difficult.

Definitely the weakest episode, especially considering how wasted the sister reveal felt. Such a huge part of Blitzø's lore, and it all felt thrown away.

I honestly hate when any character embarrases them in a relatable way so that's another reason why I hated that episode😭

Tbh, ‘Unhappy Campers’ highlights extremely prominent character flaws in Blitz and Moxxie along with Millie’s underlying insecurities. Moxxie is a black hole for validation whether he hates the person or not. Like when he told Loona he lost weight then flipped out he isn’t fat. Millie was just the only one there. Blitz is just clingy no matter the damage it causes and it’s set up to make him emotionally volatile enough by Full Moon. Millie can’t ever show her talents or feel special cause she’s holding up the wet cardboard that is Moxxie’s “self-esteem”. Best example is the like. 3 or 4 emotions she showed in 4 seconds after she ran into Chaz. And notice, she wasn’t even truly vulnerable with Moxxie enough to show pain for any length of time.

I honestly liked happy campers, but tbh if Barbie wire wasn’t there I think I would’ve definitely put it last in my list.

Moxie and Millie were both acting out of character while blitz is subplot was much more entertaining but went nowhere and was kind of a bad way to introduce his sister

Personally I liked the episode. It felt like a little break or insight that not everything with M&M is 'perfect' as well with the reveal of Barbie Wire, it's like a cliffhanger like Viv is still keeping us on edge with fully revealing Barbie or ya know, keeping Blitz's backstory still in puzzles and I like that.

Even with Millie being "put up front, " most of the episode is STILL about Moxxie and about how unpopular he was. Millie felt like she was "important for once, " but apparently, that's not a bad enough feeling compared to Moxxie's want to be a great detective or wanting the camp to like him. I feel the only episode that revolved around Millie and treated her right was the first mini-sode, and I also feel like Blitz and Moxxie are hyped up most of the show because Blitz is voiced by the co-creator and Moxxie is voiced by someone Viv has admired since childhood.
