For me having lived in Madagascar for the last 11 years I would add that Malagasy are strong in music, with a variety of styles ranging from traditional/folk, to Gospel, to Jazz. Also the seafood is great!

This means a lot to us, thank you ! We're looking forward welcoming tourists from all over the world and in some time, hopefully, becoming a destination that'd not only be safe but also fun and sought-after.

I have traveled only 28 countries so far but although this country is so remote and undeveloped I am defiantly adding it to my bucket list! Meeting those Lemurs in nature must be something unique

I'll add don't get stuck spending most of your time in the capital Tana thinking it's the best representation of Madagascar. If you're decide to travel south from Tana I recommend taking a plane to your destination or be sure you're in a safe caravan. If you're going North find a reputable tour guide with a reliable vehicle 4x4/SUV to drive you and enjoy the small villages along the way. Dress down as much as possible; like you're going to be working in the yard or gardening on a hot summer day just with a comfortable pair of hiking shoes.

I just got back from a 2 week holiday and it was amazing. So much variety of places to visit and things to do. Hire a driver and tour guide as it can be pretty precarious as you travel around. Flew into Tana then flew to Toliara (Tulear if you use the French name). Travelled the 1000km back to Tana via various stop offs and overnight stays. Accommodation was fantatic and incredible value for money. Some of the lodges by the sea are stunning. Visiited tribes (there are 18 in Mada), villages, national parks, markets, seeing Lemurien (Lemur), chameleons, crocodiles, tortoises, baobabs, handicraft, paper making. Great food, fish, rice dishes, schrimps, zebu (a little variable in quality), soup. Beware some of the hottest pastes, dips i’ve ever tried. Going again in November. I do have the added attraction of my beautiful girlfried living there and who works in tourism.
