Показать описание
The Grumman F3F “Flying Barrel” was the final biplane fighter to be used in active military service by the US Navy and Marines.

By December 1941, all of the squadrons flying them had brand new F4F Wildcats to replace the Flying Barrels.

This aircraft is one of 4 remaining examples left and is beautifully maintained by the National Museum of WWII Aviation in Colorado Springs.

We had an f3f at the lone star flight museum when it was still in galveston, but sadly it was flooded i think, which is why they moved to Ellington field

For those who don't know, a biplane flys both ways.
