If they get that far, they might as well code it themselves.

If AI writes code, demand of cybersecurity will increase. Just think about all the vulnerabilities that can end up in prod because somebody didn't audit copilot code properly.

usually learning one thing doesnt equal to knowing one thing since you can apply your knowledge into another, rather relevant area. learn, people, learning is good

Cyber security is peak. The more code is written by AI, the more cyber security experts will be needed!

Every time I go to a conference for a company claiming to revolutionize Tool and Die making with AI the companies confidently deliver exactly the opposite of what customers want and completely miss the point of what we actually do. Not really feeling the pressure.

Especially in the cybersecurity industry, you shouldn't fear for AI taking your job. It is an incredibly complex and expensive industry, one where, if I was an employer, I would *never* trust it with any kind of security-based QA.

I like that this is one of the things they keep posting as shorts on this channel. Either Thor himself or an editor. It's something a lot of people, young or old, need to understand about AI.

I work in corporate and a few years ago we upgraded from Microsoft 2010 products to the live Online versions overnight, it was more than 10 years of upgrades instantly. We had training on how MS can help with automating file storage, signing docs, basic stuff like that (not the craziest automation by any means, but more than we had before). There was a woman in the training, probably in her 50s and she was TERRIFIED of these updates. She said that she was scared that if she passed on this news to her boss, she would be fired in an instant because signing and filing docs was her whole job.

The instructor was BRUTAL and said pretty much verbatim that if that was "all she was good for", she should be fired tomorrow. He was 100% right (though probably a bit harsh with her), but from that woman's point of view, tech had jumped 10 years overnight and she either needed to catch up now near the end of her career, or be easily replaced.

Definitely a bit wake up call for a few of us there 😅

I just graduated with my degree in cyber security and while there's a lot of opportunity it's a lot of people wanting experienced workers with certifications I simply don't have. Might need to spend a few years in IT and build up to the point of getting an actual cyber security job

I am a complete idiot when it comes to cybersecurity but just from a logical perspective I feel like cyber security would be one of the jobs more resistant to AI because I doubt AI is effective at protecting itself from threats. Like if AI became a core aspect of cybersecurity what happens if something compromises the AI?

Imagine hand crafted furniture vs. machine crafted IKEA now. Machine crafted does the same yet holds nowhere near the same value. You should not worry for AI at all. It will never replace people, it will just add extra value to society.

AI writing CS code sounds like disasters waiting to happen. there will only be AI assistance in the CS field. it will be a LONG TIME before AI can be trusted to write code with no flaws unsupervised

My wife went back to school for it a few years ago, and now she makes more than double what I made while I was putting her through it.
