I like how the game makes the chase scenes second person to avoid showing the monster right away.

I like to think that the summary of this game is "There's an eldritch abomination trying to kill me, but I have bills to pay and no time for this nonsense."

Hey there! I'm one of the developers of the game :D

The first thing I probably want to mention is that you've made this video! I mean, the backstory is that I had a small YouTubers list like less than 15 names who I was going to send the game to review, and you were in that list but with a side note like "Nah this guy is too big I think he probably won't even notice a message from me and why will he even care about this small unknown trashy indie horror you've made" yeah I guess now it sounds stupid.

When my pal sent me a link to this video I've lost my jaw as I hadn't even get to the list yet. Thank you! That felt really... badass! And "badass" is a great word for how you played the game lol

You figured it right. The whole thing, the cycle, the old keeper related to the events happening. I was worrying a lot that all of the reviews we'll receive would be "I don't get it is there a storyline at all the game has no words wtf" but it seems it had just enough words. It's kinda tricky right now, I know, some of the moments we plan to update and polish, it was all done in a big hurry. But you got it and it feels so good lol.

So I understand now that I should have never had a doubt in you - the words are true. You're a manly badass hero and I was a fool for missing that point.

Btw, the whole game came out from the Global Game Jam 2020, where we decided to make a game without a word. We left a few sentences after all and decided to give some tips in achievements and I'm glad it worked.

P.S. Thanks for cutting out the sacks part lol. I've noticed how you started to go up after the first one being hanged. Everyone does. We'll make it more clear. :D Or cut the number of sacks required.

Manly: "oh well its a moth its attracted to light"

Also Manly: *keeps lantern lit the entire time he's being chased by Mothman*

It would be mildly inconvenient if someone did live under the lighthouse.

I love how the tarot card achievements give a plus meaning to the game, and if you go by that logic, the lighthouse is the Tower card. Meaning, that no matter what you do, it is meant to fall and crumble one way or another.

I dig this sudden influx of niche horror games lately. Earl’s Day Off, Night of the Consumers, and even all these weird lighthouse themed games

fun fact: a shovel is the most readily available alternative to the medieval halberd, arguably one of the most effective historical melee weapons

I kinda admire lighthouse keepers. It seems like it was a noble, but very lonely job. And any job with such endless isolation is bound to be scary. That’s probably why there’s so much horror based around lighthouses. The fear of feeling like someone is around when you’re supposed to be alone. Either someone is there to kill you, or you really are completely alone. Both options are scary.

Chase that man underground ♬

I'd like a horror game with a simple ending right at the beginning where you can NOT DO what everyone tells you NOT TO DO and you skip all the horror in the game for a quick and simple ending.

I'm liking this increase of lighthouse themed games. Even if they're man made, lighthouses will always appear otherworldly to me. I'd love to visit one someday and look out on the ocean horizon. The fact that so many ships and sailors relied on them to be a literal beacon in the dark and stormy waters, but now of course tech has advanced kinda makes me feel like they're forgotten relics.

I really liked how the duality of the lighthouse is juxtaposed here. Usually, the lighthouse is a beacon to "keep away" for ships but for moths, it's a beacon of attraction.

The game kinda reminds me of Siren, like how the monsters where once human and being able to see from their perspective. It's kinda eerie because it makes you more aware of that you're being chased by a sentient being.

This was awesome. The opening segment is good for setting the tone, but the flipped perspective segment is so well done. That genuinely elevated the game for me, it was great seeing the loop in full force.

Does everyone just really like lighthouses

one thing i really liked was the recurring seagulls. Like at first they're just your usual maritime fauna, but they appear in special locations! like the ones gathered around the buried seagull by the hut, where the lighthouse talisman is, i think by the overturned boat too? also the buried dead seagulls. brrr. if it's taking inspiration by the movie, then seagulls are said to be dead sailors, giving another layer to their presence, and that one that just Stares at you as you pick up the last talisman. very cool game.

Imagine just. A normal Lighthouse for once. And any weird stuff that happens is just the Lighthouse Person going insane from being separated from the rest of the world for so long.
...Or how about a Lighthouse in the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse?
A lighthouse that when spun in one direction or another goes backwards and forwards in time?
I can probably come up with more... Lighthouses are definitely just... one of those things where you can let your imagination run wild with.

The ocean is the scariest place on earth irl, it's no wonder that ocean adjacent places are attracting horror interest lately.
