Details like that are a huge help for actors. A scene where an actor needs to be shown reading something the audience can't see is massively improved when there is something for that actor to actually read. People can tell when someone is pretending to read, especially when the prop is just blank paper or just a string of letters.

There's that one scene where the Ghoul is talking to the president of the "Governmint." There is a napkin holder on the table behind the president. If you pay attention you can see the wind, from the broken windows, blowing the napkin sticking out of the holder. Think about a set designed considering such a small detail that they were like, "Anyone got fan?"

I work in film. Set deck (the props department) tend to pay very close attention to small details. Funny thing is, with all their attention to detail they tend to overlook fairly obvious things.
