Monday Lennon is my favorite Beatle, Tuesday Ringo, his personality & impeccable drumming wins me over, Wednesday George hits an innovated riff, comes Thursday, McCartney displays the greatest bass of R&R. Friday, Saturday & Sunday I enjoy The Beatles.

I love it but damn it feels naked without the loud fuzzy bass line

Lennon wrote it as "Hey Bullfrog" but at the end of the backing track Paul barks trying to make John laugh. John laughed and changed the name to "Hey Bulldog" which is not said until the very end. Also McCartney misread Lennon's written words "Measured out in news" as "Measured out in you" John liked that better and kept it in. Also John plays the lead in the song not George.

I absolutely love the piano in this song

You can tell that Lennon was coming out of his acid soaked persona, given the snarling vocal being delivered on Hey Bulldog. Plus Yoko was increasingly moving towards his orbit. Hence his new found freedom to challenge McCartney's authority.
