The title sounds like clickbait. It's not clickbait.

Everybody, listen up. Bout to drop some truth here.

1. cockroaches are not conscious of anything
2. No nerve endings = no pain
neurons don't count, people play the goddamn violin during brain surgery.
3. What is happening here is exactly like what a cockroach would feel in the real world. No pain. "It's like bumping into a wall."
4. It's a cockroach. It's either this or a shoe to the everything.

Now, continue with this knowledge!
Side note: I was mildly unsettled by the rigging process, but please see #2.

This could open up the possibility of real life avatars

cool but wired at the same time. like what you said " as a scientist I'm intrigued but as a human its creepy".

Interesting that the cockroach experiences being “controlled” in making a turn by being led to feel it has just bumped into an object, then deciding itself to make a turn. Makes this seem less like turning a roach into a robot (as it was billed) and more like gaslighting the roach...Kafkaesque!

Why are people getting bent out of shape over this? It's a fucking insect

LOL at the people saying this is animal abuse, we kill a huge amount of these bugs every year (I don't know the exact amount and don't want to make myself seem stupid by guessing) its not like there making them feel like there being eaten alive, and besides I doubt insects have a "consciousness" anyways if they did I would have almost definitely not been born a human and instead born as an insect do to the amount of insects there are in realation to humans (I know that's not a very scientific way to look at it but it makes sense in my mind at least)

The future of technology is cloudy. Ethics should always be a part of the question. Great video!

they've been using electric shock to contract muscles for a long time. They make a belt that claims to give you rock hard abs while you sit and watch tv or at your desk at work.

Although I'm not fan of cockroaches. But this seems really unethical.

This is scary, imagine if someone upgrade this technology to a certain point to where they could control humans. I know it’s unlikely, but the possibility still terrifies me.
