Attempt on Trump was one thing but the way the so called American liberal media reacted to the incident was infuriating.
Some of the headlines which were published by the "independent media" which just can't stop preaching to the world about the media standards were just baffling to say the least.

As always the pro- democrat bias shines through. Gupta confuses democrats with our dear old congress.

Ronald Reagan was a strong supporter of free trade and was anti-union. The result is that a lot of labor intensive manufacturing shifted out of the USA. China saw its opportunity. It liberalized its economy and improved relations with the US. Today you cannot buy a TV made in the US. Shoes, Clothing, small appliances and light bulbs are all imported from China and quality is generally quite good. India continued with closed economy and License Raj.

If, I can strongly disagree with this analysis: I watched the vox videos years ago, so not watching it now. Nowhere in those videos do they use terms like right & left so frequently as they are used in this CTC. Such terms pollutes the political debate. However, its a disservice of the worst kind when we use such terms while talking economics. With all due respect towards the incredible things that I learn through this segment, I think terms like right & left are used frequently when one can't differentiate between right & wrong

This polarisation is fuelled by social media, where one narrative need to be countered by other by all means

India has no right.
India has left leaning BJP. Far left Congress and other political parties and far left urban naxals.

There are only the Muslim parties in India whom you can say are the right parties. Right for themselves and far left for non-Muslims.

Democrats are not left. They are actually center, Republicans are right wing. But both follow libertarian philosophy, that is core to democracy

U forgot the assassination of lal bahadur shastri in Tashkent. Apart from that actually insightful video... The Marco Rubio angle is something I would like to read more about now.

This should be titled "A brief history of USA politics". Brilliantly done. I love these kind of episodes when Shekhar Gupta does a dive into the past and connects it to what's happening right now.

@SGsir I am also not an expert on US politics but from what I know this is a flawed telling of US political history... calling progressivism the successor to anti-slavery is wrong... liberty/freedom is the successor to anti-slavery... progressivism or so called affirmative action or positive discrimination is just euphemism for discrimination and are tools of social engineers and anti-liberalism. So, Republicans have always been a party of liberty, be it in opposing slavery, or wanting small government, or free market, or opposing diversity quotas...modern journalists and universities equate progressivism with liberalism when they could not be further from each other....Since as back as the French revolution people knew that "liberty, equality (or rather equity) and fraternity" which made the French moto are infact opposing ideals and a liberal/free society will never give you equality of outcome.

If someone smart enough wants to connect all the dots since 2016 since when Trump was first elected, decoding what happened & what can happen next is not too difficult to interpret.
