Howard Jones - New Song. Synth cover (2024 version)

This is a remix of my cover of New Song by Howard Jones.
Here's a list of the changes I've made compared to my original cover version:

• improved the sound of the main the lead
• increased the amount of left/right panning on the lead during the mid point of the song
• reduced the intensity of the delay effect on the snare drum so it sounds a little less harsh
• changed the amplitude envelope on some of the organ, string and pad sounds so there is less conflict with the reverb.
• Re-EQ'd some individual sounds and the master to achieve a slightly more rounded tone.

I've also made a few other minor tweaks here and there, with the goal of improving the overall tone of the mix.

Since my original mix was released I've upgraded my studio monitors (KEF LS50s were replaced by Yamaha HS8's), so the changes I've made may have been somewhat influence by that.

Nicely done as always, Julian. I'd like to hear you do other covers from Human's Lib. It's one of the first synth albums I bought on cassette back in the day. Bit of trivia: my partner used to go down to Howard Jones' house in Somerset to practice Buddhism!

Excellent remix, sounds more punchy - we watch YouTube in 5.1 and this immersed right back in the 80s! One question Julian, are there versions available anywhere else other than here?
